Getting iTunes to the Home Stereo - Click HERE for Original Thread
foxhallow
I have an iPod and recently spent some time getting all my CD's converted to MP3 files using iTunes. After I had everything copied, I wanted to find a way to get the music from my computer to my home stereo system in the next room. I looked at several options, but they all had limitations or big price tags. I found that Apple makes a small unit ($129) called Airport Express that can be configured as a client to an existing home wifi network. After configuring the Airport Express unit to communicate with my Netgear wireless router, I just plugged it in the wall by the stereo and ran a short wire from the Airport Express to the Stereo receive. Now I select a playlist from iTunes, choose "Great Room Speakers" from the iTunes menu, and the music plays in the next room. Sounds great, too. All this on a Dell Windows XP system. Apple makes great stuff.

Now I'm looking at an Apple's iCarPlay FM Transmitter. It plugs in the iPod and Pilot's power outlet, and broadcasts the iPod music to the radio via an FM station. Has anyone tried this device with their Pilot, and how well does it work?

THere are some other posts on this that indicate the sound is not great. It is okay, but just that. I have the casette setup and it is just okay.check here

I am trying to decide between the PIE and Blitzsafe to hook up to the back of the Pilot music system.
Good work on your Itunes (great to have when the Ipod is out with my wife). I have my Ipod with the link from it to the stereo (low tech).

Don't use the fm transmitter, it is the worst sound quality of the 3 basic options, use a tape adapter or even better yet go the pie/blitzsafe route. I went the blitzsafe route and have been very happy with it. It is easy to install yourself, hides well when you dont want anyone to know there is an Ipod in your vehicle, and best of all sounds awesome. Id be happy to meet up in Indy somewhere to show you my install if you like.
