| I bet it'll just give an error that the navigation DVD isn't in there or the door is open like when the NAV DVD isn't in, but I'll go throw The Matrix in and see what happens...if I don't post again, I'm in the Matrix and you need to wake me up! |

| The Honda NAV system is set up to only accept the NAV DVDs. However, a DVD player is still a DVD player even though they place security features on it to prevent people from driving down the road and watching a movie (which is illegal in most states). However, there are ways to by-pass this security feature and have your NAV system play DVDs. There have been several members on the board that have made this modification with mixed reviews by other members. Many seemed to think it endangers others to watch it while driving... I tend to agree but I am not here to judge only to offer info. There are multiple ways to do this just search the board. Equipment is required and I am not sure about costs and warranty issues. Here is one of the latest threads on the subject. |

The NAV system is more like a PC, not a DVD player, I seriously doubt that the NAVI system has MPEG2 video decoding and CSS descrambling capability. The dual layer DVD in the unit doesn't appear to be encrypted and why would they need MPEG2 video playback for a NAV system. The audio/video unit mentioned in that URL is simple a video source selector/splitter (and an expensive one at that! $500+ ouch!). |
