I have a 04 pilot with aftermarket speakers, amp and a sub. I still although have the stock deck. I also have the dvd system. I was wondering if the 06 deck with the indash changer ect would work in an 04 pilot?! Is it an exact fit or what?! Please someone help me figure this one out! Thank you!

I am in the same boat with aftermarket speakers and sub and amp. Does the 06 have rca outs? I am now having to use low leverl outs (or is it high level?? and I woul dlove to go direct out. Are the specs on th 06 better than the 03?
Thanks!

No OEM manufacturer that I'm aware of produces RCAs. It's cheaper, more secure, and just as good for them to use input wires and snap in connectors.

Why would anyone want to purchase a new OEM headunit?? The cost alone would make it outrageous for an inferior product. You're looking for at least a $600 price tag and that might require a core return of your old stock radio.

You're much better off going aftermarket - better sound quality, more power, features, and far cheaper.

Because of several things. Going aftermarket you lost the factory look and fit. And you lose the steering wheel radio controls. All that stuff comes at a price. Also I have the factory dvd player and I don't know how that would work going aftermarket.

Well, you can retain steering wheel controls with a www.pac-audio.com product. Factory look can come pretty close with a single din unit as there are preformed dash kits for the Pilot.

However if you have the factory DVD player, then you're married to Honda.

Based on the pictures I've seen, I'm pretty sure it's the same chassis so everything should be a direct swap. It looks like the center stack didn't change vs. the top section. Just make sure the place you buy from has a flexible return policy just in case. Also, the wiring would have to be confirmed. Until someone can post that information from a service manual, this might take a while. Helm doesn't have the manual available for sale yet.

I wonder how you're suppposed to pop the trim loose, since there's no longer a blank plate to pop out on the right side so you can get a couple of fingers in there and pop the clips loose.

I would take apart the lower center console first. There should be a place to grab at the bottom of where the trim meets the HVAC control unit once it's exposed.

Someone want to figure this out!?!!?! Thanks again!!!

Have you even called your parts dept and asked them what it would cost? Are you willing to pay $600+?

Why don't you just get the add-on 6CD in-dash changer for the '03-04s? This is the same unit that comes with the '05 EX and above standard. It would be a LOT more cost effective.

Don't forget that the '06 Pilot has blue dash lights. If you're going for a "factory" look, this is probably not the best option.

Check it out:

$600 is a very conservative low-end. I'm guessing he's looking at $800+

Even if you can order one at that price, is it worth it for some blue LEDs and a standard (non mp3) in dash changer?

Why not just get a 6 disc changer under the seat?
