Can't Remove Rear Bumper Oil Spots - Click HERE for Original Thread
donaldsiu
Hello,
I have a white '05 Pilot. After the first car wash, I noticed the lower parts of the rear fenders (parts of the rear bumper) had oily spots that could not be removed by using car washing liquid and car wax. The rear tires kicked up either oil from the road or from whatever stuff that car dealer put on to make tires look wet. The spots on the metal body could be removed easily but not on the rubber portions of the bumper and side trim. It looked like the rubber bumper absorbed the oil, and now oil spots appear as permanent yellowish stain. The combination of white color and no rear slash guards make the situation look worse. I plan to take it to the dealer. Anyone encountered this problem?
Thanks,
Donald

Hi,
Thanks for the link. Is it available at AutoZone and Kragen? Will it tarnish the glossy paint?
Thanks.

The Stoner website says its available at Kragen. It will not harm the paint, but you'll need to wash and wax the area after using Tarminator. I recently got some tree sap on my vehicle, and this stuff cleaned it right up. I was impressed!:p

Yea all the local shops have it including Pep Boys, I see them blowing it out for 2.99 a can. Its great stuff and made to take off oily issues without harming the finish of clear coats etc. I like all of the Stoner products.

Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover works for me. :29:

Well, I tried Tarminator, alcohol, gasoline and even nail-polish remover. None of them worked. I finally took the Pilot to the dealer, sent in the photos showing the oil-stained bumper. At my request Honda district manager agreed to re-paint the bumper at Honda's expense. I had the rear splash guards installed afterward. I believe the same problem will happen again if I don't have the splash guards.
