Dose your Pilot clock tell the right time? - Click HERE for Original Thread
CTIRA
2003 EXL...The digital clock on the dash board...Mine always runs 2 minutes behind. I reset it numerous number of times to 4 minutes ahead and it will eventually slow down to 2 minutes slower. I started to notice that it's starting to run slower too, now 5 minutes behind. Even though it is not a big deal but it drives me nuts! Does that mean I have a bad battery?

I don't think it's the battery. If the battery was providing insufficient stand-by power, I tend to think your clock would reset back to 12:00 and you'd lose your presets.

You probably have a defective radio - take it into the dealer and have them replace it.

The clock on my Pilot is pretty accurate. I have never reset it because it was too slow or too fast.

The clock in my Pilot was always losing time, probably a couple of minutes a month.

My clock has been to the minute since I bought it. I compare it to my Garmin Navi and my atomic wall clock in the garage.

Mine's right on too.

My wife runs the Pilots clock 5 minutes fast, except for that it always shows the right time, just five minutes fast.

She probably sets it that way so she won't be late.

I love this discussion.

Do people real think a clock can (on its own) run a set number of minutes fast or slow?

The clock make no decisions of its own. Its under control of forces greater than all of us.......and completely out of control.....

Don't be so quick... I have a clock radio next to my bed that syncs the time with some sort of OOB (out of band) signaling that comes through either FM stations, or something in those frequency bands. I never looked into it for the details, but YES it does set itself.

And we are on our second factory radio, and both where slow by at least 3 minutes a month. So, CTIRA, you are not going crazy.

The odd thing is that it drifts off by a couple of minutes very soon after it is reset. This makes me wonder if the radio is trying to set the clock, but not reading the time code correctly.

Consequently, I wonder if those without the time drift problem may not have the time codes broadcast in their area.

Hmm.

"ON its own" does not include clocks that sync (which out Pilot's clocks do not!)

Yes, I believe they can be fast or slow by a certain number of minutes per day, week, month, or year, :4:

But that is not what was being said!

yup, my clock drops a minute or two each month. . . .really not that much of a hassle.

If your clock is gaining or losing two or more minutes per month (and you can't live with it), it will have to be replaced.

Go to your dealer and do your best negotiating for a new unit. Ask him to refer to SERVICE NEWS Jul.03.
