Which SUV did you test drive and almost bought?
Ferdball
Motor Trend's SUV of the Year didn't even make the list. So, forgive me forum for I have sinned. I test drove the Envoy. Go ahead. Call me names...

Darn you are right Ferdball..... they only give you 10 polls. Let me see if I can modify the poll.
vegasdude
Looks like the Admin or somebody with MODERATOR rights are the only people that can modify it. Which one should we have the Admin take out of the list?
Spartanman
Add the Toyota Sequoia to your list too. I was tempted to buy one....but came to my senses.

The Vibe/Matrix is a little tiny car, no? YANK! Otherwise, you'd need to add all the other pocket-rockets like the Focus, etc...

I too looked at the Sequoia. Hard truck-like ride, horrible mileage and $40k, makes you appreciate how much this little Honda-car does.

Calling Mr. Admin or any moderators out there, can you pls. replace the Vibe with the Envoy.

Thanks!

I will also PM the admin.

I agree--yank the Vibe and the Montero, while you are at it and definitely add the Sequoia. I also test drove one and found that it was waaaaay too big, felt like a truck and last but not least, due to a blind spot, I almost hit another car when I was test driving it--that was the deciding factor for me!!
banningjr
I can't find the Aztek on your list.

Kidding, I did drive the Montero Sport though, not the Montero. What about the Lexus RX300?

I think the Vibe is out of its league here.

OK, I requested to take out the Vibe and Montero and put in the Envoy and Sequoia.
bgeraldo
I test drove the Highlander. It doesn't even come close to the Pilot. It was a very easy choice.:D
vegasdude
ADMIN, you are still the MAN! :6: You are fast!

Fellow Piloteers, Envoy and Sequoia are in. Pls. no more request for changes.

What's wrong w/test driving a GM product?

I did too. Just b/c I have $3200.00 on my GM card. Wonder when I will be able to use it with all the GREAT products GM churning out these days. I got this GM card for over 10 yrs and still waiting for a right car to come along. Probably never.

Just for kicks, I added the Aztek to your list (just now, a few hours after I did those other mods). I figured since it was mentioned, the least we can do for a fellow Piloteer is provide some form of confessional, since that person (if he or she exists) would never reveal that information in the forums w/username attached :D
Tony
Isuzu Trooper,

I already own a 92 Trooper. I like it better than the 2002 model, but the Pilot was the best. :)

No kidding, i will never buy a GM again (3200.00 bucks.... give it away for 2200.00 cash..) just so many problems and very very very bad service... every time i go into a dealer service dept.. i feel like I am going to be shot! they just don't stand up to the quality of a Honda...

take care

Add the Saturn VUE. The only other one we drove (this year).
I love my '94 Saturn SL and was all ready to buy a VUE,
almost sight unseen, until I drove one. And saw one.

Love the company, not too fond of *that* particular car.

Pilot03, we are in the same boat, I have about $3000 on mine. Some day I would like to own a Corvette.

No Jeep Grand Cherokee? Limited to 5 seats. We were looking at the Volvo V70XC with 7 seats. Never test drove. Proud Pilot owner :)

Snicker...now all we needs is a victim! Now where is that Smiley with the Evil look and rubbing his hands waiting?
SoapPlant
Very seriously considered Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Toyota Highlander.

Dodge Durango not on the list...

Tried to test drive the Acura MDX but the battery was dead - doesn't count I guess!

Didn't even bother driving Ford Explorer...

A 2 seater sports car.... hmmm how about a Boxter S. Told my wife the other day that our next car will be a 2 seater, "just you and me".
Since. my 2 kids just started saying, Nah, we'll stay at home, YUGO"

If you want something added on the list, like the Durango or none of the above or boxter or Yugo etc., just post it then CLICK Report to Moderator.........type the message pls. add the following to the Poll. Voila!

BTW, somebody still did not own up to test driving the AZTEK! :16:

I drove:

Toyota Highlander - Didn't like it at all.
Acura MDX - Like it from the inside, but I don't dig the exterior and it cost so much more than the Pilot with little justification.
Toyota 4 Runner - Negotiated with dealer for the same options, but the price was too high. Also, I thought it was showing its age, the 2003 looks nice though.
Lexus RX300 - Not in your list. Too expensive for what it offered given.
Nissan Pathfinder - Also not in your list. I can't remember exactly why I ruled it out though.
ex0904
None of the above.

OK, so I'm posting a little late for this thread -- I got up a bit too early today....

We drove the following:
4Runner -- too small, seats too low for a 6'2" driver.
Highlander -- OK, but lacked amenities/space for the price.
RX300 -- OK, but not worth the price.
Exploder -- average in every way, outstanding in none.
VW Taoureg -- just kidding, they aren't here yet.
Tribute/Escape -- too small, too loud inside, but not bad for the price.
RAV4 -- tested for the wife, who went w/CR-V.
Durango -- underwhelming at best, bad gas milage.
Forester -- boring.....
Montero Sport -- see Exploder.
MDX -- My favorite one, but held off because I didn't like certain items, particularly the unnecessarily complicated CRT display. However, I had pretty much decided on this one when two things happened. We decided to buy the wifey a new car first, and I found an article about the upcoming Pilot in Car & Driver magazine. We tested a Pilot in June when we purchased my wife's CR-V, and haven't looked back since.

Have been in late model Pathfinders, Grand Cherokees, Tahoes, Suburbans and Expeditions (we live in Texas after all), and wouldn't buy any unless they substantially change. Don't think I'll *ever* buy GM again.

I hear you, never buy GM again too!

Same here, I leased a 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix where the
timing belt broke 3 times between 24500 and 34000 miles,
I think I was without the car for a total of 2.5 - 3 months,
spent $13 or 1,400.00 on Rentals and Towing( I was reimbursed
about 70 or 75%) and they wouldn't let me out of the lease to
lease a Bonneville or something - basically ended up eating
the last 5 or 6 months of the lease(because warranty was up) when I traded it in on my Maxima and swore off any GM car Forever, :3:
(actually I left a little room for a corvette if I ever hit the lottery, but other than that nothing )

We only test drove the Pilot and it was love at first sight so we didn't even bother with any other SUV!!! I guess it's comparable to dating only one girl and marrying her without "test driving" other girls... D'oh!! (Hope the wife doesn't see this...)
sllmyjeac
I tested the new 4Runner because we had a previous one and loved it. But after a deep evaluation of our needs, we decided to go with the Pilot.
74PILOTMOM
I never test drove another vehichle. I drove the Pilot, and loved it.
I did all the research via consumer reports and car mag's and just because I own a Honda that has 3 million miles on it with no problems. No other vehicles need apply!
Jammer
Envoy - didn't care for it
Durango - loved it, bought it (used, excellent deal w/ 10,000 miles on it.
Highlander -

Highlander - WOULD NOT BE CAUGHT DEAD IN A TOYATA PRODUCT.

I'll get this right yet!

Toyota's are great, reliable boring vehicles, and their drivers, who by their demonstrated lack of driving skills (I drive 50,000 miles a year and have observed them firsthand), have taken from me even the option of owning one so as to not be one of them.
Pilot - love it, will buy when when time is right for me business-wise.

Above comments (Toyota) somewhat tongue-in-cheek.

Alright, fess-up, who test drove the Aztek?
It's ok to share that here. We're a community. We can help you.

It's okay... clearly they saw the error of their ways... no need to cause further embarassment. :p

Envoy, Highlander, Sequoia, Envoy again.

The highlander was too small, having owned a '93 Suburban.
The Sequoia looked too big and lacked features.
Almost bought the Envoy, loved all the toys that came standard although it lacked the third row and was a bit narrow. It would have been nice if the Pilot shared more of the Envoy's toys and its amazingly short turn radius.

Ultimately, being a Honda fan sealed the deal.

We drove the Ford Explorer, the Dodge Durango and the Chevy Trail Blazer. We actually were going to buy the Trail Blazer but I got delayed by the salesman at Chevy. While waiting to be helped, I walked next door to the Honda dealer and drove the Pilot. It was fantastic! I remember calling the wife telling her I thought the Chevy was nice but she needed to drive the Pilot.

She drove it the next day and now we are waiting for delivery (now the countdown is down to maybe 9 days!).

The Pilot was so fantastic we decided to wait a couple of months to get our own instead of getting a Trail Blazer the day we were shopping.

Pilot Does Rule!
Commuter
If you count my other SUV (Ford Escape) as a test drive, that's all I've test driven. I didn't even test drive the Pilot I own. I read about it, called my dealer, and ordered it.

I just knew the Pilot was the one to get and I was right.
boiler1991
I did not test drive anything other than the Honda Minivan. Honda quality and functionality keeps me coming back.
