An oldie but a goodie...
I can remember my parents listening to this on 8-track in the old VW microbus! (Not joking)

Well, I didn't have a VW but I did have a 8 track under the seat of my Pinto.
I took the seat out and drilled the four holes for the screws. THEN I decided to see what I missed (good timing huh?) :eek: One drill through nicked the brake line :eek: but didn't penetrate it. So I put the seat back in and the 8 track worked fine.:D

| I never got into the 8 track thing, I always went for the smaller cassette tape. I did allot of recording from albums to cassette so maybe that was the reason why. So that brings me to the question which I may need help on. Could you by blank 8 track tapes in their hey day.:8: :26: |

Sure... you could buy blank 8-track tapes. However, most of the portable players did not record.
8-track was largely developed as a portable media. I'd say that most people bought their 8-track tapes pre-recorded.
In order to record your own 8-tracks, you had to buy a home stereo component that would record in the 8-track format. (I had one.) Still, LPs and reel to reel were the best choices for listening to at home, so 8-tracks really didn't have much of a place there. It was pretty much just a solution for listening to music in your car.
Casette players were smaller and many of them recorded also. They were also cheap. Little wonder that 8-track usage died out. |

Went to Cleveland this past weekend to listen to a tribute to Sam Cooke. The Saturday evening concert was devoted to his Rock 'n Roll, and Sunday was to the Gospel side.
It was an incredible show, on both nights. You can really see the roots that developed from the gospel side. Many stories about his contributions and the new paths he forged for those that came with and after him.
Aretha Franklin closed both nights, and she sure didn't need a microphone. Highlights included the Alabama Blind Boys, Hummingbirds, Elvis Costello, Solomon Burke, Lou Rawls, L.C. Cooke, Morgan Freeman, Taj Mahal, Manhattans, and many more.
It was like music history unfolding before us.

Any rockers out there will not be disappointed at the Rock and Roll hall of fame.
A trip to Cleveland is not complete without a stop at the Great Lakes Brewery, one of the finest microbreweries I have ever been to. You can take back bottles, but the draught on tap is the best.

and ofcourse did I mention in another thread that I stopped off to see Tim at Hondacuraworld? What a great guy he is. You should see all the stuff he has to do back there in the warehouse.

Not sure if they ship via internet. Never tried because of the border issue with alcohol importation.
I wonder if you can order them through a liquor outlet down where you are?
I like them all except the "stout" type. BUT my favourites are the Dortmunder Gold (Lager) and the Burning River (Pale Ale).
When we go there we try the sampler shots, but I always like those two above, the best. |
