Dealer Installed Non Factory Dvd - Click HERE for Original Thread

I just leased a 2006 pilot EX-L Navi and had the dealership install a DVD player. Does anyone know how to have the sound from the DVD play through the car speakers? I can only hear the DVD through the wireless headphones.

In my old Nissan Quest the movies could be heard through the audio system so all in the back could watch and hear the movie.

Actually you probably can. On 03-05 models, all you have to do is purchase a Blitzsafe adapter that will let you use your stereo's CD changer input to add another audio source such as an iPod or in your case the output from the DVD player. The only thing you need to confirm before trying this is making sure the CD Changer input on your '06 is the same as the '03-'05 and also that your DVD player has another audio output aside from the one the headphones are using. If you don't have another you can always use RCA "Y" cables to split the signal between the two but I'm not sure how that will affect the quality of the signal. Do a search on this forum and try to find out if the Blitzsafe adapter will work. Good luck and welcome to H-P.org!

You should really be able to play the DVD through the audio system. If it's aftermarket, you need to be more specific as to make and model. I really think you should ask the dealer if you have questions. In all probability, the work was subbed out to a stereo store and they or the dealership should have the answer for you. BTW, if you're leasing the Pilot, be careful when you modify the interior or exterior. When you turn it back in, you may be dinged for the mods.

Many aftermarket also transmit sound on one or more FM frequencies. Review the owners manual of the DVD to see what you frequencies are.

OR sit in the car with a moving going and look below 91 until you find the right frequency

Yes but because the dealer did it, it will be covered under the warranty which covers smaller things like radio etc. That's how it's always worked for me. That way if something isn't right, it's the dealers responsibility to correct the issue with whomever THEY hired to install the unit

Thank you for the good tips. I went back to the dealership and they showed me how to do it. I simply had to tune the car radio to 88.1 fm then it worked fine.

Hmmmm... Seems like that would have been nice for them to cover upon delivery huh.
