| Can anyone tell me what dealers are charging to install the sidesteps and foglights without lower trim? I know there will be variations but I need examples. |

| My local dealer wanted 3 hours labor (about $200) to install the side steps. Needless to say, I did it myself, in less than 3 hours, in the dark. You can get the install instructions @ www.collegehillshonda.com |

| My dealer charged me $73 (1 hour labor) to install the side steps. This was $1 more than Honda's "build your own Pilot" website gave as an install charge. |

I just did the running boards in about 2 1/2 hours and that included stopping for pics along the way so I could write a quick article later. I'm sure side steps are about the same. It's not hard at all.
Personally I'm a little more skittish on the fogs on this vehicle and let Honda do mine. I wouldn't pay more per hour than what honda suggests on the website since that is usually over kill. (Especially on the prouct costs.) |

Do instructions come with the running boards? Or are they online? |

| If you order accessories, there are no instructions included. However, www.collegehillshonda.com has graciously put them all online in PDF format in their accessories store. |

I found that many dealers will have larger
time allowence for the DIO install then what
Honda has on their site. And this seems not
to be the case of a simple rip-off.
What has been the experience of others (excluding
the cases of options install being thrown in
as an incentive, for free or for a low fixed cost) |

| The dealers are entitled to charge whatever they wish for installation as they are "independent franchisees" of American Honda Motor Company, Inc. My dealer wanted substantially more than the "suggested" installation costs on the Honda web site - negotiations changed that, but not until I walked out on the discussions...     I'd make sure they understand that before you begin discussing prices! |

My dealer wanted $145 to add the rear splash guards.
I ordered it from Tim and installed in less than an hour for less
than a quarter of the dealers asking price.
Being "independent franchisees" does not mean that one is allowed
to charge 4-5 times retail. |

| No, what it does mean is that if there's only one dealer in your area, he flies the skull and crossbones and says "hardy, har, har..." whenever he gets a customer in his sights. It's called marketplace pricing and usually results in a lot of do it yourself jobs...     |

| I had running boards and mud guards added after initial purchase, but before delivery. I was charged $500 installed for both, but that may have been a special deal to make sure I went through with the purchase. |
