Hi all:
Lately these 2 months, when I turn the key to 1st notch, my Day Time Running Light warning light (a yellow warning light marked as DRL ) will go on and with a buzzing sound, and the passenger side Running Light will NOT come on.
Until I start the engine OR turn on the Low beam on without starting the engine.
It just happens intermediately, sometimes I try turn back the key then turn to 1st notch, if I see the passenger side light comes on in a slow motion way, then it will not have warning light and buzzing sound.
It happens at any time, not just cold start in the morning or warm start after short shopping.
Car is out of warranty, if it is simple fix, do not want to spend money with dealer.
Any ideals ?
Thanks a million. |

John, sometimes I'm amazed at how some people find the threads that they do. When I read
PChiu's question, I immediately tried to locate my own thread, but I couldn't. Then I spotted your reply right below it. Keep up the great work, dude :29:
PChiu, I can rummage through my glovebox and locate the work order and scan for you if you want. If it turns out to be the exact same problem then you shouldn't need a whole new DRL relay board, so be sure to ask what exactly is the problem if they tell you that you need a new unit. |

Oh, man, PChiu, I am so sorry for not having replied sooner. I've been really busy after work everyday and on weekends as well, trying to renovate the old house before we put it up for listing and haven't checked out this site for a while until just now. And this thread was like on the last page of some 800 and some new messages
I'll go dig up the work order and scan it in for you ASAP. Even if it's too late for you, perhaps someone else can refer to it in the future. I'm really sorry about this. Hope things've worked out for you after all though. |

RipRocK yes I assumed you were busy to renovating your Pilot.
I took the sick Pilot to the usual dealer, as expected they said I have to replace the 'Board', part+labour=$270 (add extra 15% tax).
Asked for friendly good will warranty (as an safety issue ?), he said he should have notified if that is any.
Told wife to paid their Type2 maintance service $100, and get home.
To be fair, they said they did take out the 'relay' (or something) and pluged into another Pilot without any problem, so it has to be the 'board'.
I already printed out the fix from this board to them
So with great problem arranging time and transportation to go North to our friendly non-dealer mechanic, he fixed it as descripted from the print out, solder the crack/gap, $40.
But of course I will not have any warranty on that and may not last.
The mechanic says he seen a few not just Honda, but other brands too, may have to do with the cold weather of Canada.
Funny is Dealer attached a card to ask ' tell us how we are doing ......' through their web site.
I will surely go to their web, link them to this page, then they will know how they are doing.
Thanks again for all brothers that's try to help each other in this forum. |
