Hi, My fellow Piloteers ..
I currently have squeaky brakes and pulsing when brakes are apply quickly on my 04 pilot. The brakes were serviced at 24,000km and now its about 30,000km. I thought it was the brakes getting dirty, so i serviced and clean them out myself but the squeaking is still there. This happens mostly when the vehicle is cold, but squeaks normal but not so much. Can any piloteer help me out in fixing this problem. Its so annoying... |

| Did you check if the pads ware glazed? Try using a sandpaper to remove the glaze. Also, try bleeding the brake system. Make sure to apply Molykote M77 grease to the shims and the back of the pads. |

| Well i have sanded the pads down and with removed the glaze and applied anit sieze to the pads and all the bolts, but the squeaking is still there. What can i do to fix this problem. They were already serviced by the dealer already, all cleaned but the noise is still there. |

I'll assume the pads are O.E. and original set.
A couple things. The rotor surface can contribute to noise. If the rotors look like a record (33 1/3 LP), you'll have to replace the pads & resurface the rotors. Sanding the pads won't be enough. The lathe work has to be done correctly or you'll be trading one noise for another.
Using automated car wash, spray cleaners, or tire dressing, anything aerosol, may have contaminated the pads.
Some noise first thing in the day could be normal. The rotors will rust up overnight and until that gets rubbed off with a few applications of brake, you may get noise from that. |

| This is a design issue. We put a very slight bevel on pad sides on all Honda vehicles. (does not take away from the thickness.) This allows dissipation of heat which is the root cause of the brake squeal. Works for us! |

06 Only 2 months old, 2900 miles... slight squeaky brakes !
I'll take it to the dealer. Just wondering does Pilot use ceramic pads? I had a Ridgeline (has ceramic pads) with 19K & no sounds at all... |
