Mystery noise & magic cure - Click HERE for Original Thread

This ends up as a just a weird story - but I wonder if anyone else has encountered this-

About 3 weeks ago my 2005 Pilot EX started making ugly noises - seemed to come from driver's front - some rough repetitive sounds like a bad rubber bushing of some sort / also a thud-thud secondary to going over bumps (I once had an Explorer that made this sound - had a broken swaybar connector) / and a roaring / moaning sound that had me looking underneath for a deformed air dam or some other dangling item - of course no evidence.
Took it to the dealer two weeks ago & technician went for a ride - thankfully the Pilot put on quite a show! grunts, moans and a handfull of clicks ... technician looking like he wanted to call in a priest to cast out the evil spirits... says he does not want me to drive it until he checks things out - he puts it on the lift ... checks all key suspensions items - can't find anything - says it is OK to drive - but says bring it back for a two day service so he can really figure out this puzzle.
A week ago I'm on highway 78 driving home from Newark airport - Pilot making major roar, boom-boom over bumps etc. ... then SPROING-ZING-CLING ...a weird noise occurs... and then suddenly no more wacky noises.
I kept the service appointment - and of course no problem was found - they said that it might have been "a stone in the rear backing plate" HUH? They even told me that they had a customer with this who had her car towed in because the noise scared her so much.
Does any of this make any sense ? The Pilot does seem to be back to normal - so maybe it was just an irritating stone - but this is really odd!
Thanks for any & all thoughts!

Sounds like gravel in the lower spring perch. Sometimes it's hard to find, but yea, it can make quite a racket. When the spring compresses it hits the gravel, usually crushes it & noise goes away.

Maybe...
rocky
a small stone stuck between the brake disc and something else eg backing plate, would cause a sqeek sqeek anytime the vehicle is moving. Had plenty of those when off roading my Land Rover.
