Would anyone be interested in getting a group buy going for some H.I.D Lights?
06EXLN4
via which retailer and brand of the HIDs?
traydeezy
Well, I just wanted to see how many people were interested first. But most likely it would be from xenonfactory.com or xenondepot.com. I have purchased from xenonfactory before in a different group buy. The kits use philips ballasts and bulbs.

The problem with HID and our housings is that it creates too much glares... The output with the stock bulbs and headlamps are as straight as an arrow, however with HIDs and no retrofit it will all over the place. Get me a ACTUAL picture of someone that has done it. thank you!!!

I have 06 Pilot, which has different headlamp design. It is projector beam, which will focus beam pattern much better than 05 models; which is designed with reflectors. In fact most of the OEM HID's are designed with projector beam to avoid wide spread of beam pattern. Based on this, 06 will definitely have better beam output.

I have hids installed in my 05 pilot, not that much of a glare.
Bought them from xenondepot.com

Did you lose your high beam?
iivtecracerii
only wallshots can really show if there is glare or not.

and the 06 having projector headlights does not mean putting HIDs in it will not cause glare. they are HALOGEN projectors. you need HID projectors if you want HIDs and no glare.

Traydeezy thank you for those pictures. I saw them when i went on the Xenondepot when I was checking them out. But like iivetcracerii said only wall shots realy show the cut off, if there is any. This is very exciting!!!

ASAGA,
That would be great!!! I also have an 06 Pilot and i would be very interested at the results you'll get.

Please post the details of your HID (brand, price, where you bought it...)
if you dont mind... thanks!
06EXLN4
I've purchased my HIDs from Xenondepot, the cutoff beam is about the same as OEM halegon beam. In fact, no glare what so ever to on-coming traffic thusfar. I love the light out...with fog combo. It is even better than OEM. I will get some pics up soon....little busy with work.

r we talking about '06 HID?
I am planning to get the H11 HID for my '06 from VisionBulbs for only $259 or something like that. But it will have to be after my trip back from LA. :)

Thanks ASAGA!

Along with the other websites that the other members recommended, i'd be able to compare and pick an HID for myself.

cant wait to see the pics.:)
traydeezy
06EXLN4, what temperature bulbs did you get? 4300k or 6000k?

Can you post pictures?
06EXLN4

i bought hid from visionbulb for 269. they went up i guess. now i have to wait for the missing connector in the kit. bsure to have them check the kit they gonna send you or you'll end up waiting for the parts like me.( i dont even know at this point what they gonna say because it's saturday now and i think they are close. i called them friday and explain whats missing and today they are asking me send pictures of the kit and the oem wire of my pilot. told them it's a standard h11 wire nothing to it.oh well.
metallicblue06
update on my visionbulbs.com hid kit is under accessories. take a look at it . i got pictures in it.

Hi everyone...

I took part in a visionbulbs group buy on the acuramdx forums, but unfortunately, we have had nothing but problems.

  • Of the 10+ members who took part, only 1 has a kit up and running at this point.

  • The missing / incorrect connector issue that plagued metallicblue06 is keeping the rest of us from installing the kits, even though we received prior assurance that the connectors would be correct and included.

  • The company is stating that gave inconsistent stories about shipping replacement connectors (in one post, they claimed to have already shipped them, yet in another post, they claimed that they WOULD be shipped). They can not and/or will not provide tracking numbers for shipment of the replacement connectors and it appears that they used a method of shipping that is slower than their standard 9 day "express" shipping.

  • Their customer service number continually goes unanswered during normal business hours and they have not responded to numerous e-mails and phone calls, but find the time to post messages in the acuramdx forum stating that they have responded to everyone's emails and phone calls.

  • As it turns out, the group buy "discount" offered by visionbulbs was actually $8 MORE than the regular price of their bulb kit when purchased using a universally available 10% discount.

Here is a link to the group buy forum message thread at AcuraMDX.org detailing some of the problems that have occurred and the lack of meaningful response by visionbulbs: http://www.acuramdx.org/forums/show...15&pagenumber=8

I would really like to see some picture of HID in a 06 Pilot. Does anyone have them and have good pictures of them working. Seeing the lights on a wall or garage door would really be nice so we can judge the cut off and glare. (shots of the pilot head on are cool, but they dont tell the whole story) Please provide as much info as possible.

Were I live, I have been pulled over for light violations numerous times (cops dont have alot of crime to fight, so they pick on my Integra). I would like to run HIDs in my Pilot, but I am afraid of glare issues (with the law and with oncoming traffic)

I am sure Integras get flagged for those issues more than pilots..
BlueRidgePilot
HID owners,

Does the addition of HID add any more length to the cuttoff line of the Headlight Beam?

EDIT... Cuttoff line in this case is about the length of the beam out from the car, not the cutoff line on the garage door at the top of the beam.**

Right now I am looking at JDM lights off of Ebay from Japan. (seller jdm8000kinc) There is no starter/ignitor. These are supposedly plug and play (no cutting), and water proof.

At 280 with free shipping do they seem like a good deal????
jlee2070
How about these, also on Ebay...

BlueRidgePilot
jlee,

Thats not a bad deal, and they have a three year warranty. I was just looking at the number of items he had sold.

Of course the ebayer you found has a better feedback rating.

thanks.
jlee2070
I'm not endorsing this product... Just something I came across.

However, would be interesting to know if any other HP.ORG members have had experience with this unit???

Will it work for with both HI/LO beam?
jlee2070
Hello,

Is the light output actually brighter? Meaning, in the drivers seat looking out, does it actually light up the road better providing better visibility?

It works great.... what you were looking at is the low beam.... I wont throw them on the hi beam.... no use for it!
iivtecracerii
post cutoff pictures!

you probably need to shrink the pictures. if you're using windows xp, you can download Microsoft's Image Resizer Powertoy here. just install it, then right click on the picture(s) you want to resize and select resize.
