Ok, I traded in my 04 V6 6speed Accord w nav. for an 06 Pilot with Nav. cause I need more room. I bought the Pilot without having all my kids with me. That was mistake #1. After 2 weeks in the thing with kids 5 in all (All boys ages 12, 11, 9 and two 3 year olds). I found out quickly There is not enough room. This past Sunday I went to the SF International Car Show. That was Mistake #2. I took a trip the Honda area and sat in the Odyssey with the kids. Mistake #3. The first thing out their mouths was and I quote "Dad you should of gotten this it has a lot more room". I made the mistake of not even considering the Odyssey in the first place. So I am considdering selling the Pilot to get the Odyssey. Here is the low down on the Pilot. The only thing is I want to do this as quickly as possible.
06 Honda Pilot with 1900 miles on it (Will go up I am still driving it)
Nighthawk Black Pearl
Grey Leather
Navigation with the back up camera.
2WD
Asking 30k
No added stuff from the dealer or aftermarket.
I am located in Northern Cali. If anyone is intrested hit me on my e-mail. We can then trade info.

Hi
I am not interested in buying your 06 Pilot, I just wanted to ask you your opinion about the Honda/Acura display at the SF Car Show.
I thought that it was odd that Honda/Acura had their own room. It was not well marked and I almost missed it after walking through the entire show, including the "exotics" on the upper level. It was kind of cool that they had their watercraft, outboard motors, generators and lawnmowers on display as a tribute to the number of different product Honda makes.
Good luck with your switch over to the Ody.
Did you talk to the dealership where you bought the Pilot? They might be able to help. |

I went to it last year also and Honda had the same room. I though that was kind of weird. It seems like every year the car comp. are in a different spot. I guess that room fits Honda/Acura pretty well since they don't have the line up of the of the bigger car comp. I think Honda is the best engine makers. It's only fitting that they had all their engines in there. To bad the couldn't fit their jet in there.
As far as the going back to dealer. They wanted to give me 25k. I laughed, I know I am going to loose money but I am not going to loose that much. I went to another dealer they are willing to give me 27k.
Thanks. |

| It's really tough to buy a vehicle and find out it doesn't suit your needs. I hope you don't take too much of a loss, but when you sell a car so soon after your purchase, you are gonna take a bath. Maybe you could work out something with the dealership you purchased the Pilot from. Some dealerships are willing to help you. If you find one that is, they may have earned a few more sales down the line. Hope you didn't buy it from Serramonte... They have pretty good prices, but tend to try to jerk you around before coming down on price. Good Luck. |

I bought it from Elcerrito. Even though they had a great salesman. I am not buying from them again. I though they would work with me more. But only offering my 25k on the Pilot I bought from them 2 weeks ago, I thought was a slap in the face. I am not taking a 6k loss. for 2 weeks. |

Too bad about the need to quickly reverse your purchase.
Seems like a private sale, perhaps even Ebay is a good option.
You need to find a buyer who is looking for a new Pilot, but would buy a 'slightly used' Pilot for the $1000.00 savings. Tough, particularly if they'll be financing a 'used vehicle'. |

Doesn't matter when you trade it during the first year, you will take a full years depreciation hit from the moment you drive it off the lot until the full year is up. If that is the case and you can't get a better price, then it is better to keep it a year then trade it in for next years Ody. That way you get a full years use for your 6K. If you buy now, in a year from now, you will have lost 6K and have 1 year depreciation on the Ody. If you buy in a year, you will have lost 6K and have a brand new Ody. |

| Would it be worth trading your wife/partner's car instead? |

I agree. You will probably have a hard time finding someone who will pay only $1000 off the price of a brand new Pilot. No matter if it's two weeks old or two months old, it's now a "used" vehicle.
The $27k that you were offered seems to be pretty good considering it was from a dealer.
My guess is that if you want to sell it quickly, you'd have to drop the price below $30k just to get anyone to look at it. |

| Might be worth checking out the Ody forums. You might get lucky and find someone who feels they made a mistake buying an Ody and would prefer a Pilot. |

| Ok a quick update, I was able to trade in my 06 Pilot to another dealer that offered 28k for I thought that was a good. Considering the last 2 dealers offered 25k and 27k. So I am now rooling around an 06 Odyssey Midnight Blue with Nav & Res. Thanks for all the feedback. It was much appreciated. |

| As long as you are happy with what you got from the dealer, that's great. I just hope you didn't buy the new van from the same dealer who wouldn't help you out when you needed them. They could have bought the Pilot back, resold it for $1000+ profit (on top of what they made the first time) and sold you the van and made more money and kept a customer happy. Not good business. But then, you are talking about car dealers. |

No I went to a diffrent dealer. It is funny how different service is from dealer to dealer. Now the salesman I bought the Pilot from was a great guy. Young and new to the biz, but he did his homework, He knew a lot more about honda's than most "vets I have delt with. It is unfurtunate that the sales Managers wasn't as good. I ended going to the next big Honda dealer San Leandro. Those guys were on the ball for the most part. They had to "locate" the Ody for me. It took a day longer than they said. Everything else was great. You can tell who wants to help you and who don't. The Fairfield dealer said I had to put money down or Honda will not finance you. San Leandro on the other hand O down and Honda still fianced me. Humm funny. Live an learn. |

Funny, I bought my Pilot from El Cerrito also, the guys were decent but they lied a lot, almost every other word was a lie but we ended up getting a great deal so we bought it. I just looked at it as a big game.
Before we left, the salesman said.. hey, we gave you a great deal, I'd appreciate it if you would give me some referrals, so the very next week, I went back with my sister to pick up a CRV and met up with him again.
This time, he wouldn't budge an inch. It was weird. He just let us walk out the door without even willing to sit down and discuss prices. He wanted full sticker with all the extras, such as wheel locks for $135, door edge guards for $135. Told me the Honda OEM wheel locks that you buy online are different than the OEM ones they install on the wheels etc.
Told me I would not be able to install accessories on my own and that I would need the dealership to do it for me, (including the special wheel locks) just stupid stuff.
So when Honda customer service called me on my 'experience' purchasing my new vehicle, I ripped him a new one, and they hooked me up with plenty of discount coupons and free services for his poor attitude and for insulting my abilities :) |

| Yeah, that is the feeling I got once I tried to trade the Pilot back in. Well, they lost repeat buisness from me and I am sure a lot of other people. Since we both had same exsperence. I can't see it being to different for a lot of other people. |

| Sometimes, dealers don't realize how much business they actually loose when they treat a customer like s#$%. As in this case, your experience was posted and a lot of people subscribe to these forums and read about others' experiences. If the post is negative enough, it may sway someone away from purchasing from that dealership. |

| Yup, a little bit can go along way. Going that extra mile can land a customer for life and not to mention great word of mouth. There is no better advertisement than word of mouth. Also, bad word of mouth will kill you even more. |

wow this was almost exactly like my buying experience at el cerrito. they said if I buy accessories online, I would be buying some unknown honda knockoff made in china. I was so tempted to respond to his dumb statements, but then I just wanted to sign papers and get out of there. I'm also at a point where I expect uninformed salespeople where I buy, so I just buy from the dealer that gives me the lowest quoted email price. |

wen i bought my 05 pilot back in june, i wanted to take it back after a day. i thought the pilot was not big enough. the dealer wanted me to take a $10k lost. The entire FREMONT HONDA was rude, they just told me that California has no cooling down period and if i want to return it i have to take a $10k lost. WHAT JERKS over there. they didnt even try to negotiate with me, they just didnt want to take it back.
but i guess it was my fault for not thinking it through before i purchased it. but i still think Fremont Honda could have handle it more professional. they almost made me get out of the whole honda scene. |
