Okay this is for the 2006 Pilots with the 4 headlight design.
The low beam headlight is an H11
The High beam is HB3 (9005)
I can find the Philips vision plus in a 9005 size but they don't make an H11 size yet. I emailed them and also Sylvania and they said it would probably be at least a year before they came out with this size in the higher performance lights. I'm wondering if it's possible to use a 9005 in place of an H11 since they have the same plug in type design?
I don't want to do this if there is a problem with overheating or anything so I would like your feedback on this. :2:
Thanks for your help guys. |

First off, I can't be certain on the bulbs as I haven't played with the H11 that much, and my Pilot hasn't arrived yet... As far as the plug itself goes, they may be very similar, if not the same, but the thing I'd worry about most is if the 9005 will fit in the H11 socket. But, I highly doubt it, that's why the bulbs are "different". From pics alone the H11 looks to have a much wider base and may lock in differently (they definately have different ways of sealing, but I could be wrong about the lock).
If you really want to test this it's pretty simple... Pop out your low beam and high beam from a single side, then try replacing the low beam with the 9005 bulb. Again, if it fits, then all you've got to do is test the connector, and if not, then put everything back to "stock".
As far as your concern about overheating something. You won't be generating much more heat, unless you go with a lot higher wattage bulb. DO NOT rely strictly on me, but with all the Hondas I've ever worked on in the past, I've never once had one whos headlight housing/wiring could not handle a little extra heat/current.
I know that wasn't much of any help, but I'm really bored right now! |

| Yeah I guess you're right about it not really being much of a higher rating. I guess I could try it out later this evening and let you know if it worked or not, I just didn't want to do this if it would hurt anything in the process. My luck it won't even fit into this housing and I'll just have to wait a year to get a higher performance bulb. Oh well thanks for the help :D |
