Weather tech mats........cleaning - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hey all. Just wondering how those of you that own the Weather tech mats clean them. Do you have to take them out and hose them down every time? They fit so tightly that pulling them out all the time is not ideal. I tried a spray cleaner but it doesnt do all that well. Just wondering how everyone cleans them in the winter months with all the salt and sand.

I just vacum it. That takes care of most of the sand and dirt. I have yet to take it out and wash it though.

I don't have the Weathertech liners, but do have the OEM all-season mats which are a similiar material. At the end of the winter season, I take them out and spray them down with Formula 409 and scrub them with a brush. Then I rinse with a hose and let them dry - they look like new again.

Unfortunately, the tan mats look dirty real quick, especially with all the salt and road dirt in the snow belt. We just had our first decent snow and they already look trashed. I probably will hose them down at the next car wash (if it ever gets above freezing again!).

I have the liners and I use a brush and a hand-vac to clean them. Only take a short time. Every few cleanings I'll wipe 'em down with a damp towel along with the pedals and nearby trim.

OTOH, what do I know about snow and salt... I live in FL. Sand... now there's something I know a bit about.

Ummmm, I dont?:D

3-4 times a year I'll vacuum the interior, and once a year, I'll wash mats (usually the first good hand wash after winter) with interior cleaner and hose 'em off.

The whole reason I bought 'em was so I didn't have to worry about cleaning them.

I vacuum once a week. I used to take them out, scrub them with some dilluted simple green, and hose them off, then shop-vac them again and they are flawless.

Recently I purchased a steam cleaner, and I love it. Just pull the mats out, vacuum, then steam them, and wipe the moisture off with a towel. No chemicals, not a lot of moisture AND they are sanitized!!
