Just thought I'd pass on some refreshing news especially for the car industry.
I'm a first time Honda buyer. After owning the Pilot for six hours a leak developed from the transmission. Its was a pressure plug.
After having my Pilot layed up for three days they fixed it.
I got a questionnaire from Honda with the number of American Honda.
Spoke to Barry there, told him my story and he said he wanted a few days to investigate and talk to his fellow managers.
Upshot: He came back with giving me a six year 120,000 mile extended warranty bumper to bumber. Nice.
And for anyone considering the Pilot .... Buy it ... best car I ever bought bar none.
Go right out and buy it .. forget the Morano, Tribeca or Explorer.

If I remember right, it is listed in your owner's manual.
Good Luck! |

Theres part of me that doesn't want to believe this post, or that Honda did so much for a first time buyer
So Amos, how about posting a picture of the warranty and don't forget you need to post a pic of the pilot to because

I think it's reasonable because it is tranny related. The Pilot has not had the tranny problems that most of the other V6 Honda/Acuras have had. Acura will replace MDX trannies way past the warranty end at no cost. H/A is very accomodating when it comes to tranny problems because the problem was so widespread and loosing repeat customers. |

Honda Tranny mfg plant Link
All trannies for US/Canadian manufactured Hondas/Acuras are made here in the US. The first 2 years (2001/2002) of the MDX along with TL's, ody's, etc all had quite a few tranny failures. The MDX tranny was redesigned in 2003 and a tech I talked to believed that the Pilot got the redesigned 4 shaft tranny configuration. There are few Pilot and few 2003/up MDX failures with the newer tranny.
Here's a list of all Honda/Acura North American Mfg facilities:

No. Some USA made, some Japanese made.
Every Odyssey window sticker I have ever seen says transmission made in Japan, including current models. Some Acura CL and TL transmissions were US made. All MDX and Pilot window stickers I have seen said transmission made in Japan. So Japanese made units still have problems. |
