I'm wondering if there's a correlation between the final assembly location of the Pilot and whether it exhibits the 70MPH vibration. So far, I have not heard of a single case of an Alabama-assembled Pilot that exhibited this problem.
How can you tell where your Pilot was assembled? If you open the driver's side door, there's a tag along the bottom-right of the door sill that should tell you.
Pilots are made in one of two factories either Alliston, Ontario (Canada) or Lincoln, Alabama (USA). |

This is a great question...hope people respond to your survey,to see if those made in Allinston like mine was... is the issue.
Taking mine in to dealer on Wednesday to see what can be done about the vibration..I now have 1,000km on my Pilot and it seems to be getting worse.. |

| My '03 Pilot was assembled in Canada & I don't have the ~70mph vibration issue. My nephew's '06 Pilot AWD had the ~70mph vibration but It was corrected by the dealer. The culprit was the 2 bad Goodyear tires. My nephew's Pilot was assembled in Canada! |

Where are the Goodyear tires manufactured? What's with the exclamation point ?
Given there there are far more Pilots on the road that were manufactured in Canada if the vibration is a Pilot issue regardless of place of manufacture chances are your survey will still be skewed. Why don't you just limit the survey to the years that the Pilots were manufactured in both Alabama and Ontario. That would be a bit more scientific. |

| My, Pilot was assembled in Canada by good Canadian Laborer's in 2003. It may be my luck but it has been trouble free for 50,300 miles so far, no vibration, no wind noise, no gas tank slosh, no bad leather, and no brake clunk. Just another good quality Honda in Paradise! |

The issue I had with my CA-assembled Pilot was an alignment issue. No vibration, but did have feathering on the front tires. The OEM Bridgestones were worn close to the bars by 30K and got REAL dicey in the notorious FL thunderboomers. Got Hankook RH03 tires on it now (rated very well by CR for warm-weather use; only major weakness was snow and ice traction, a set of conditions we don't experience in FL). After ~ 3K on the 245-70 Hankooks, haven't noticed any vibration, just a small bit of cold 'lumpiness' that goes away after 2-3 miles of driving. Traction and response is better than the OEM Bridgestones, noise is comparable but different (slightly better on some surfaces, slightly worse on others)
Did/do have the brake clunk, though. |

Feathering?...sorry what you mean by this?
Was the Pilot new when you purchased it? |

Feathering is the uneven tire wear where the outer edge tread blocks wear to a 'feather edge' rather than wearing evenly. The cause in my case was excessive toe-in on the front wheels, which is one item adjusted during a wheel alignment.
As to was it new - it had 7 miles when I first test-drove it, 25 when I signed on the dotted line, almost 3 years ago.:D Guess that qualifies; it had just come off the transporter a day or so previously. |

Thanks for the clarification...
Just got my Pilot back after a day with the dealer...rebalanced wheels twice..they were way off on the balance, rotated the tires.Service manager and senior advisor were suprised a brand new Pilot was so out of balance...they said it was rare to get a Pilot this new with such a problem.
Hope it stays this way for good...crossing my fingers. |
