What a terrible superbowl...
The game was pathetic...
The officiating $ucked...Seattle could not catch a break...
The half time show was no good....
The commercials were not clever either...
Amongst the worst super bowls in recent memory...:mad: |

For the most part I would have to agree. It had a few moments, but very few. I started doing laundry during halftime - how bad is that!

In general I'd agree, although I didn't think the game sucked that bad. There was a lot of good defense, and a few major bad calls stained an otherwise well-officiated game - but that's all it takes, isn't it? Seattle's touchdown catch that was reversed on a bad offensive interference call was enough in itself.
But for me, as a musician, the "entertainment" aspects of the day were horrendous. I'll admit that I didn't even watch the halftime show, as the Stones are not going to surprise me by being anything other than what they are, and I can't stand them. I'm sure others will disagree.
But the national anthem was pathetic. They announced it, and I said, "Oh no - not Aaron Neville", and my kids went, "Why?" Then he started "singing" and both of my boys looked at me in shock - "He's HORRIBLE!" Then I had hope that Aretha would come in and tear it up, but even she sang like a tentative school child who had never heard the song before.

I though Aaron's microphone was turned off he was so soft. Aretha was great - she should have done the whole anthem. Poor Dr. John seemed like an after thought.
The commercials were like other years, some very good, some OK and most forgettable. I did chuckle at the streaker. My wife thought the Clydesdale pony was touching.
The game could have been worse. Bad officiating and bad time management withstanding, it held my interest.
bottom line?
The Patriots could've beat either team :2: |

Not me.
Advertisers take note - there are a lot of us who are walking out and doing other things and/or Tivo'ing the game.
I'll spend three hours (and watch ads) for a good football game, but won't spend five hours to watch some excruciatingly-slow entertainment spectacle with poor football play, censored bands, terribly officiating and advertisements that have become more important than the game. Shorten the lead time to a single week, get rid of instant replay, and return to a 15-minute halftime of marching bands and I might be a lot more interested in the next superbowl.
It's supposed to be a football game. They need to keep their eye on the ball or this thing will become like WWF.

| Yea that 8 Billion should help to cut ticket costs but you know it will increase the salaries of the players. I blame the owners for the high sala ries though. If someone would give me 10 million over 3 years i'm sure not going to say "Well thats to much. Lets cut it down to 3 million" :1: |

There's plenty of blame to spread around for the situation we have now: owners willing to overpay to produce a winner (betting on continued appreciation of franchises that, like any pyramid scheme, can't continue forever), greedy players and agents, and politicians willing to subsidize a private enterprise with taxpayer money using some bogus "economic development" argument.
The only way it will change is to vote with one's feet: stop going and stop watching. I wonder how many people would continue to spend $200 for a pair of pro-football game tickets in the end zone if they occasionally bought a $5 50-yard-line seat at a good high-school football game.
And compare this year's Superbowl to this year's Rose Bowl NCAA championship. College football is big business too, but the college championship game was dramatically better played and more entertaining.

what high salaries :confused: :confused: NFL has pretty low salaries compared to other pro sports... the salary cap as around 88 million I think (and remember that each team has 53 players)...
NFL runs a great business (unlike MLB)... how many other sports can have the kind of success small market teams have in NFL (Green Bay, Kansas City, San Diago, Buffalo, etc etc) |

granted, nfl players don't make as much as nba or mlb players, but they still get high salaries compared to the rest of us (at least me...I don't make anywhere near their average of $1M+). :(
as far as business goes, the nfl does give more teams chances. however, mlb has proven that the bigger market teams don't always win it all though. look at florida and anaheim in recent years. anyway, yeah just about any nfl team can win the championship within a couple of years. except arizona. :D |

| One bad thing about the NFL is the length of the players career. I think I read somewhere thats its between 3-5 years on the average. Yea my Pirates are a good example of the small market failure of MLB. I remember going to games years ago and the Bucs were unbeatable. Then as MLB grew the small market became more or less the farm teams of the majors. Kinda sad when you think about it. My hat's off to the NFL for their business like approach and the success of the organization through all of the years. :1: |

"He was alert and conscious," said Ernie Roman, shift commander for the Allegheny County emergency service.
Steelers Dave Lockett, outside Mercy Hospital, confirmed the accident but did not provide additional details.
The 24-year-old Roethlisberger has said in the past that he prefers not to wear a helmet when riding his motorcycle.
Calls to Roethlisberger's agent, Leigh Steinberg, were not immediately returned. In only his second year in the NFL, Roethlisberger helped guide the Steelers to the Super Bowl championship last season. |
