Just was wondering if any pilot owner out there bought the cheap ($10) vinyl clear bra from ebay, succesful installing it, and is happy with the purchase? With so many people buying this stuff, I jumped on the bandwagon . I purchased a kit before any research and to put it bluntly . . . it's worth less. Oh well, live and learn. I just got caught in the sales pitch.
Yes I know, I'm opening myself up  . . . take it easy on me will ya.

Well, got a chance to work with it and found thick damp recylced cardboard to be a better product:3: What I don't get is people still continue buy this stuff. They may be in for a surpise.
Anyway, If there is someone considering buying the clear bra advertised on ebay for cheap and is NOT a 3M product . . . SAVE YOUR MONEY!:4:
It's my mission to help just one person to not make the same mistake that I did. Hope I already did. |

sac84371,
Thanks. . . My job is done.
Wilson,
Unfortunately. . . no. But hopefully I can describe: Product came on a single rolled rectangular sheet with all pre-cut prieces on wax/plastic type paper backing. It did not have the hood piece. I had my doubts as the "vinyl" material did not have, for a lack of better word, elastic qualities. I saw another post and video installation with the 3M material being pulled and pushed. This product obviously could not do it. Instructions mentioned that heat (from heat gun) could help with curves but with the Pilot having so many, I wouldn't even consider it. And besides, I don't think it would've conformed. I can see it installed on flat surfaces but what car . . . flat?
I also would question the adhesive. If it won't stick properly, then you'd have to guess if you'll see the color of your paint behind it. It should be "invisible". That is probably why it was marketed as easy to take off when vehicle is sold.
Again, this is strictly my opinion and experience. Although the price was cheap . . . I got what I paid for. Oh well.
And that is why I inquired on this forum if anyone out there was succesful with this vinyl invisible bra. I thought it was just me. |
