alternative to OEM wood trim - Click HERE for Original Thread

The inside of the Pilot has nice clean lines and a fairly simple interior but I always felt something was missing.

I liked the wood trim offered by Honda but was disappointed to learn that it too was a stick on application. I also like the look of a rosewood/burled wood or general “earth tone” wood on a tan interior and was not sure about how it would look in my gray interior.

I read a few threads and looked around on the net and decided to purchase a kit from www.bodydash.com in a Honda Burl – a dark gray burl wood like that found in some new Mercedes. Prior to ordering, I asked for a sample of the Honda Burl along with the factory match to compare. Needless to say I decided to go with the Honda Burl.

The kit itself is huge. 42 Pieces! I have installed most of the major ones similar to the Honda kit tonight and am going to hold off on adding anymore at the moment. I am a firm believer that adding too much can cheapen the interior and some pieces really looked “stick on”.

Application was easy – I’ve installed aftermarket trim a couple times before and took my time with good light and careful fitting of the pieces. I’m happy with the results so far and depending on how I feel I may add the radio trim piece, the climate pieces and the storage surround. I think I’ll skip the extra wood around the rear climate control and the various glove box/visor/vent pieces. Photos are attached below for you to see how it looks.

A view of the Dash - I had thought to leave the "button covers" off but the alcohol I used to clean the trim looked like it may have discolored them - I actually like how it fills the space now that I see it on.

I still have the pieces to add to the radio face, the climate control face and the trim around the storage cubby where my XM radio is intalled - there is also a flat piece for the change tray and around the 12V - I'll drive it for a while and decide if it needs it.

the Body Dash kit full layout can be viewed at www.bodydash.com - A photo of all 42 pieces installed below. They are using this picture on their eBay auctions and I think the owner is a member of this forum but I cannot remember who it is (sorry!)

Jason... thanks for the pics! That color trim looks beautiful with the gray interior! Being very curious about whether I want the wood trim or not your posts are very helpful. Actually ran across the bodydash site a couple of days ago. Wondered about the colors. Did they actually send you a color sample or a set of them?

I think they will send you up to six, they are small squares of actual product but you get a general idea - I asked for two myself, the material I went with (Honda Burl) and one to match the Honda OEM (like the full kit photo I attached) - I really loved the different look of the gray interior with the gray wood. Glad you liked it too!
