I am planning to use my laptop and be able to charge up the laptop battery when I am a long trip.
Any recommendations for getting an inverter? I am afraid I am not much of a electrical guy to understand all the terms, so really have no way to compare a good product from a bad one.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Any cheap old 300 watt one will work fine.
If it is just for the laptop, then even the little 100 or 150 watt ones are ok.
You may find you have to unplug it when you shut the car off (if it seem to keep the radio on). OR use the rear of the console outlet (relay isolated). |

I use this one in my Pilot and in the Ody, its been really solid, has all the protection built in, even has an audible alarm to let you know when its on and it sees a load on it and your starting the car.

you can find it online for about $20.00 with shipping. I use it to drive a Dell Lattitude, or PS2 or Xbox for trips etc, plus its really small and fits nice in the side areas of the cargo area.
Like any inverter you will want to watch the load you put on it. I had to laugh when reading the people on Amazon that didnt like it, some were trying to run 300 watt devices on a 140 watt inverter and then wondering why it was causing problems, if its just a laptop your looking at this will work just fine. |

| I remember seeing one at costco recently. it was inexpensive, and is probably more than enough for a laptop. costco generally seems to carry only quality products. and in the event it doesn't work out, they have a great return policy. |
