I just turned over 122,000 on my 03. I pulled a small enclosed trailer (containing an 1989 original Honda Pilot ATV) thru the hills in Kentucky on a spring break vacation and noticed it burned alot of oil. About 1 quart (5w-20) to 400 miles. I started with a fresh oil change. Has anyone else noticed excessive oil burning while running in D3 and pulling something? Now that I am not pulling something I have over 1300 miles with only 1/2 qt down (and I also switched to 10-30 instead of 5w-20. I realize D3 will double engine RPM, but that seems quite excessive.
Also, My EGR is plugged yet again and I need to get it cleaned. When Honda sent out the warranty notice, I called them and submitted my bill and they promptly sent me a check to cover the dealers charge. Has Honda found a way to prevent this yet? I would rather not pay for it this time. |

I would bet it has more to do with teh higher revs you are turning in "D3" then it has to do with load. |
