Well I would like to thank all of you folks here. I got my hand on the SPEC USA HON2 ipod adapter and also got the "Y" bus cable splitter. Took me about 45 minutes to do the installation in my pilot.
2006 EX-L, With Just XM Radio, Regular Radio, and In Dash 6 Disc CD Changer.
I was going to get the Honda Music Link but I heard all the problems with it. I am very happy with the SPEC product box. The thing works great and the audio is off the heezeey.
When I get a chance I will take a pic(s) and post them here.
Thanks Again.

Pretty Cool...
Do you know if this setup will work on Pilot's with NAV?
All Radio controls through the Steering Wheel still functional as well as XM? |
|
|
| mixoplex |
Well the steering wheel functions still work. I have mine set to direct mode and I can skip the track playing on the ipod by pressing the button on the steering wheel, I can se the track nuumbers change on the display it willincrease the number each time I click the wheel.
But when I leave the ipod playing and when the song is done and it goes to the next song it does not increase the track on the display. Probably just a bug.
But it should work with the Navi but not sure if the song details will display on the NAV display.
You still will need the "Y" Splitter thing. |

| I went to the mobile audio site for the cable and it said it's not compatible with SAT radio. Does this refer to XM? If yours works fine then their site is incorrect... |

I have everyting all closed up. But I will show some pics where I have it placed then.
Also the incompatiblity with the SATELLITE is if you cut the ipod on and switch over to the CD inout for it you might hear the satellite radio mixed in with what is playing with your ipod. So what I do is just cycle through with the mode button then it fixes itself. That's all.
I have a 2006 Honda Pilot. I will get the pics up here about 1:00 pm then Eastern Time..
Sorry for the delay.. I kinda did it real quick while I was at work this past Wednesday. |

| What cable are you referring to that it said was in compatible. Also if you have a honda pilot 2006 or ridgeline 2006 yo have to use the HON2 version of the SPEC USA box. Not the HON version. |

What they mean abot incompatible is that when you turn your car on and the ipod is already on the Satellite XM Radio signal with mix together the IPOD signal. Meanung you will here your xm radio in the background while the iPod is playing, So what you do is just cycle through the inputs with the mode button on teh streeting wheel until you get back to the ipod input and then everything is fine.
Or cut the ipod on after or disconnect it and reconnect it after the car is on. That's all. It is easier to jusy cycle through the inputs. I have mine hooked up and that's what I do and it works great.
I did read something about a Blitzsafe AUX hookup might not have that problem as theyw re delayed in shipping beccause they were doing extensive testing. |

| I have a 2006 Pilot EX no XM just changer. Do I still need the splitter? Also, does anyone have installation instructions or is it included with the unit? |
|
|
| mixoplex |
Its is included with the unit but I grabbed the installation instructions from Honda's music link interface instructions on the Honda Website. You will still need the splitter thing that way you can still use your cd changer. If you dont want to use your cd changer at all then you do not have to get the splitter. What the splitter does it split the connector on the back of the radio into 2 connectors. So you take out the CD Changer connector plug in the splitter cable where the CD connector went on the radio. Then plus in the CD Back into 1 connector on the "Y" Splitter cable and the ipod on the other "Y" Splitter cable and then run everything where you want it.
That way the readio talks to both the CD changer and the iPod. |

| No problem, and good luck. Someone has some install pictures posted on here. From Soup to Nuts. You can try to get that printed and use it as a guide. Let us know how it works out. |

discountcarstereo.com has them too and has the y cable if you need it. |
|
|
| frankboy3 |
| can you elaborate on the Y splitter cable for us non-electronic people? What is the exact name and can we get this at our local Radioshack? I want to confirm. With this setup you can still have XM/6 CD changer and iPod all working in unison? |
|
|

| Just insalled the USA Spec in my 2006 EX. Not too difficult to do. I have a six disc changer but I do not have XM so I plugged into the XM/AUX port (no Y-connector needed). Everything works great. I have the PA11-HON2 in direct mode. All steering wheel controls work. It took me a little more than an hour to do. |

Dragging this up again...
On the connection using the Y-Cable... Does the Y-Cable connect to the back of the Head-unit? I assume you unplug one of the cables, plug the Y-Cable in and plug the unplugged cable onto one end of the Y and the PA11 onto the other end? Any need to do anything behind the Nav Display? |

'06 EX-L Nav
My question is…Does the USASpec PA11-Hon2 allow you to use the XM input as your Ipod input, thus disabling the XM.
I have Sirius and based on what I'm reading I can unhook the XM (thus NOT needing the Y-splitter) and hook up the USASpec instead. This not only gives me Ipod direct in but also give me an extra set of RCA inputs (on the USASpec) for my Sirius.
If the USASpec is hooked into the XM input instead will I still have steering wqheel control of Ipod? Does this mean my 6-disc CD will still work?
Does anyone know if what I'm saying is correct. Ultimately I want to have the HU 6-disc, direct in Ipod and available line in for Sirius. All of this and a disabled XM would be perfect. |
|
|
| mixoplex |
| Nope, that is all. The "Y" connector splits out from the radio, and plug ipod in one and the changer in the other. |

So the CD changer will work still :29:. But I'm reading that with Nav/XM and this Y-splitter Ipod hookup, the XM and Ipod are essentially sharing the same input. Those that have done this are talking about hearing XM and Ipod at the same time until you toggle thru the inputs.
I'm wondering if I hook up the Ipod adapter instead of the XM. My question may be confusing because I'm not sure if the XM input and CD changer input are two different plugs.
Would I be able to hook my Ipod adapter into the XM input (plug) on the HU and not have the XM hooked up at all. If so would I still need a Y-splitter? |
|
|
| trend53 |
| I have mine connected to the XM/AUX port (no splitter) and it works beautifully. I do not have XM or a NAV system so the USA-Spec is the only thing connected to that port. My radio and CD changer are not affected at all. They still function the same. |

You must disconnect your CD changer to use this? Or do you still have use of the CD changer?
Please respond ASAP.
Thanks. |

If you have an EX-L RES, the AUX button controls the jacks on the rear of the center console. I don't think anyone has found a way to use the button in any other application. Other direct-connect solutions connect to the blue 14-pin CD changer connector on the back of the head unit, and you cycle through your choices by hitting the CD button.
If you're successful finding some way to connect something to the head unit and actually select it using the AUX button, several people here will be very interested. |

I just installed a JL amp, Pioneer woofer and Focal speakers. Used Jl's Audio Cleansweep for the OEM interface connections. Besides elevating the voltage output to 8 volts, it gave me anextra aux in. As I already had the iPod HON conection solution I incorporated it. It wasen't necessary but I wanted an extra AUX in as I plan to add a DVD player...
