What does "XM Ready" mean anyway? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I just bought a 2006 Pilot and the dealer can't answer these basic questions.

1. If I didn't have an "XM Ready" radio I would need to buy the satellite stuff and an adaptor to hook it up to the radio. I have the "XM Ready" radio but I still need to buy the satellite stuff and an adaptor to hook it up to the radio. So what exactly does "XM Ready" mean? Does it just mean that there is a little button on the front of the radio I can push after I buy all the satellite equipment?

2. Why is there an AUX button on the front of the radio if they don't provide any Aux inputs?

3. If the radio doesn't really have any satellite stuff in it, does "XM Ready" mean it is easier to use XM equipment instead of Sirus equipment, or is the term XM Ready just part of the marketing agreement with XMSR?

Thank you

XM Ready means you have to buy an XM tuner/antenna. There is a dedicated plug on the back of the head unit for it. You control XM through the headunit. Here's the equipment and the install instructions:

Look for XM Satellite Radio

You can always get the tuner elsewhere. Or go with a portable unit.

There is an aux input on the headunit also, as well as in the back with the RES option.

You need to find another dealer.
