Hi all. The pilot is the wife's daily driver but it's our family truckster on the weekends so I get to drive it a bunch. I noticed recently that there seems to be something loose in the front end. It still drives and handles fine and solid, but over a small bump or a series of small bumps, it feels as though there's something in the engine compartment that is sort of clunking. The best way to describe it would be to say it feels like there's a 2-3lb hard rubber object in there that is loose enough that small bumps jar it.
We've only got 10k on it so I can take it to the dealer, but I imagine I'll get the "cannot duplicate" answer. I think it's subtle enough that if you don't drive it regularly you might not notice it.
Any thoughts on what I can check or tell them to check? |

If you can reliably duplicate the problem, show them yourself rather than relying on them to find it. I had to do that with a problem I had (steering unit bolts were not torqued to spec), and once I showed them how to reproduce it they were able to find/fix it fairly quickly. |

| My parents had a similar problem with their new CRV, took it to the dealer twice, they couldn't find any problems. When I did the 30kmi service I found a chestnut in the engine compartment. It had been rolling around in there for at least 8 months. |

I'll try to show them myself. What were the symptoms of the steering bolts not being torqued to spec? Did it make a noise or just have looseness in the steering.
A chesnut? Damn, that's odd. This is definitely bigger and softer, more like a melon. :) |
