Sub preamp output required for sub? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I'm thinking of getting the Kenwood DPX-501 to install in a 2006 EX.

It has 2 pair preamp outputs, but no sub preamp output.

Do I need to get the DPX-701 with the add'l sub preamp output if I want a nice sub in the back?

Thanks in advance. Pointers to reading info appreciated.

You will be fine if you get the right amp or amps. Most 5 channel amps will create a sub channel for you. So it would take the input for the front channels and essentially split it so both the front and sub channel get a signal. Keep in mind that you will not be able to use Kenwoods built in x-over.

If you want to run an amp for the door speakers and one for the sub, then make sure the 4 channel amp has a output that will allow you to link the two amps.
