Hello All!
I am new to this forum and a new Pilot owner as well. Having owned Toyota and Lexus products for the last 6 years, I have fixed many noise issues in the interior. I noticed the "scrunch" noise when I test drove the truck but thought it was coming from the seat-belt harness attached to the pillar. When I realized it was not coming from this area, I went to the Internet to find out what was up. I found this site, and I must say it is a wealth of information! I read the numerous threads about the noise I was experiencing. I quickly pulled out my 3M squeak reduction and proceeded to apply it on the exposed metal surfaces that came into contact with the seals. I did this on the door as well as the door jamb. I only have the 1/4 inch tape at the moment so I had to "double-up" the tape to cover the area. I took the car for a drive and the "scrunch" is now gone. This tape will eliminate any noise that occurs between any surfaces. It is a must have item to stop those annoying squeaks, creaks, and rattles in the modern car. I have placed my order for the 1/2 I am out of so the install will look cleaner. This tape is transparent and is not noticeable at all. It will for a very long time! I have included a link so other owners can stop this noise. Inform your local service department if you like. Please email me any questions you may have. There may be people on the web cheaper than these guys but I use them because they have a warehouse here in Albuquerque.

Hi TT-Tim,
I checked out the website you referenced and boy is this tape EXPENSIVE ($84 per roll). Do they sell smaller-cheaper rolls at their local warehouse? |

| Sounds like a job for our very own Wilson Wong. |

TT-Tim,
Can you post some pics on where exactly did you put the 3M tapes? I also have a new 06 Pilot only 700 miles and I'm already hearing that scrunch on the driver side. I'll appreciate if you can post the pics. Thanks.:4: |

| I checked the internet and found this tape at Amazon.com for $13.10 per roll. Each roll has only 3 yards so one roll will not get the job done. I am going to check to see if I can find it locally. This scrunching noise is driving me crazy! |

TT-Tim, please give us a better idea of where you placed the tape.
I want to have an idea of where to start. Thanks for the lead on the tape. |

| I am a new owner (2 weeks) and had this same problem on my 06 4WD EX. I heard it during the test drive and on the one I utimately bought. After reading the posts on this issue I ordered the 3M Squeak Reduction Tape, 1/2". I applied it to the front doors and noticed a tremendous improvement. There was still some scrunching so I applied the tape to the door jamb on the body and did the CRV "door frame bend". I figured that I would not hurt. Took it for a drive and I'm happy to report the problem is completely gone. No noise at all from the doors!!! Now I hear a dash rattle possible coming from the glove box area. One thing at a time I guess. |

| Did you apply the tape to the black rubber seal that is on the door and the jam? That is what sounds like the sound is coming from. If so please give us more details on where you applied the tape. This stuff is expensive so I wnat to know where others have had success. Thanks for the details please. |

The following image from an older post shows where I applied the tape to the doors. Place the tape on the metal below the rubber seal on each of the front doors. Then apply to the metal on the frame where the rubber doors seals would come into contact with the frame. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for the quick reply.
I thought the rubber seals on the door mated up to ther rubber seal on the jam. It sounds like they just bypass each other so it is metal to rubber mating together. I will put the tape here so it is metal / tape / rubber.
Thanks again. |

| I searched the internet and I couldn't find the tape in the 1/2" width in a reasonable length (I don't need it in 36 yard length). Can you guys post a link or a phone number if you found it? How long are you getting it? And how much did it cost? I had the door latch tightened to fix the problem, but I can still barley hear noise going over rough roads. I'd like to "nuke" this problem with the tape. Thanks for the info. |

It can be found at Amazon.com but it is 1" tape, 3yds per roll at $13. Two rolls should be enough. The problem was bothering me enough that $80+ per roll was worth it to me. Besides if anythings else crops up, I'll use it again. Hope this helps.
