Battery Dead - Click HERE for Original Thread

My wife woke me up this morning when she was going to leave for work and told me that the battery was dead in the Pilot. Sleepy-eyed, I stumbled into the garage and found that it was indeed dead... turn the key and nothing came on the dashboard at all.

My wife told me that she might have accidentally left the interior lights on overnight because she was searching for something.

I was able to push it out of the garage and jump it with my car that was parked on the driveway. Tonight, she told me that she was able to start it up after work, so it would seem the alternator was able to charge the battery back up, and the battery was holding a charge.

Two questions:

1. It seems odd to me that the battery would be completely dead if she just left the interior lights on overnight. Do you think the battery is weak and should be replaced?

2. We bought the Pilot new last November. Is this something that would be covered under warranty?

I can understood your frustration. As young as your Pilot is I would think the battery could hold a charge over night with interior lights on. After about a year and half with my Pilot, leaving an interior light or two on over night would drain the battery completely. I did swap out the stock Delco battery for the largest Interstate model that would fit. Keep us posted to what you find out. Good Luck

depends on which lights were left one. If it was the overhead in the front you would have maybe 24 hours (with just one on) if it was one of the backs I would say you have about 16 hours and if there was more than one, yes... indeed in less than half a day you can kill a battery dead as a doornail.. one of the reasons that I came up with an LED solution to replace them all. I actually looked closely at the several times this happened to my 05 before I saw just how fast a stock bulb can take down the battery, amazing but true :)

The folks at www.superbrightleds.com have replacement bulbs for your interior, there are several threads up here on some of us that have replaced the stocks with LED's now I dont worry about my battery going south ever again from doors being left ajar etc. I surely hope Honda fixes this in the next revision.

1) it's not the battery, the OEM bulbs draw a lot of power......

2) she's your wife, Honda's got nothing to do with it......:D

quite a few members have switched to LED's which draw a fraction of the power required for the OEM bulbs.

check this thread and look at the 5th post where CMasten suggests the correct LED replacement for his 05 Pilot. (good Job, Charley)

they not only use less power they also look "real cool" and you'll never have to worry if (when) she leaves them on again........ :2:

I installed LEDs in my 05 thanks to CMasten's work identifying the correct LEDs for which position. (06 people be aware, the lights changed.)

I would put CMasten's LED upgrade right up there with WWong's pad set. :D
