Hey guys, I have a 03 Pilot with around 55,000km's (warrentie's over though cause it has passed 3 years). Today i noticed the AC isn't working properly. regardless of what temp you set it, only minimal air is coming out. When you turn it to "lo" , it seems to work normal which makes me think the interior temp sensor is bad?
Should i just have a local trusted machanic fix it since the warentee's up? is this a common problem?
I hate to say it but our Pilot has been the more trouble some car the family has ever owned. We love the way it drives but it's been riddles with minor annoyances since day 1 compare to our crv (now sold) which was trouble free for 7 years. Thanks in advance for any advice and recommendations. |

| just a little update, I'm not sure if this is a problem anymore cause on my other car (Acura CSX), it's doing the same thing today. I wonder if it's just cause of the weather. It's relatively cool out and windy (around 14 degress celcius) but sunny and the inside of the car gets very hot. I think the entire system's just confused or something when hit with this particular combination. Regardless of me setting it to 23 or 20 degrees the amount of ac coming out is pretty much the same for both cars. i guess i'll keep you all updated if it does turn out to be a problem. |

| Does not sound right to me. Yes, I think you should have your trusted local repair guy check it out. |

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the Pilot. I have an '03 as well with 121,000km, but no major problems at all (just rattles that drive me crazy, but nothing I can't live with).
My AC kept kicking in on Sunday, which forced me to shut it off, as I found it too cool.
Have you changed the cabinet filter at all? It is curious that it works on low. Maybe wait for a hot day to give it a test. But check/change that filter.
Make sure your local guy has worked on a Pilot before. I go to a guy who just works on Asian cars, and knows them well, but he wasn't used to a Pilot yet. He said there were some differences, but nothing major.
Good luck |

| thanks for your help guys. It's been cooler and rainy the past week so i really donno if i'ts working normal. Will check through all my old service bills to see if they ever changed that filter. I'll keep u guys up to date but right now i'm more concerned about this hissing coming from behind the glove box that's pretty annoying :( |

Hi everyone. My AC is no longer working as of yesturday. i have 57,000km's on the clock. we do'nt drive our Pilot much because it's more of a weekend trip car but being an 03, it's been one of the more troublesome vehicle we have owned in recent memory.
There is no cold air coming out of the verts regardless of what position the temp dial's in. For the past couple weeks it just kept on making the hissing noise behind the glovebox when ac's on and i knew the ac was getting weaker and weaker as the days go by.
My dilema is whether i should take the car back to the dealer or have an mechanic (friend) check it out. honda'll probably charge me a diagnostic fee and tell me it's not covered under warrentie (past 3 years but the milege has not passed yet). the PIlot's had all it's service done at the same honda dealer to date so what should i do? Any chance of good will coverin it because i'm guessins ac related fixes are pretty expensive? I do'nt think this AC issue's commmon on Pilots so it's a bummer that it has to happen to me (it's been really hot lately too) |

I had the same issue with my pilot for a few weeks..so finally I took it to my local mechanic... for $220 he did:
1. Charged the AC with a Die...
2. Noticed some leak in O-Rings for the AC
3. Changed the O-Rings
4. Recharged the AC.
I asked him if the damage was due to damage from the road...he said he doubts it since there was no sign of external damage...just probably defective parts which allowed the Gas to escape real slowly... |

| Thanks for the reply. i think i'll just take it to my mechanic friend. i'm pretty sure it's been leaking for since the car's pretty new. There has always been a hissing sound coming from behind the glovebox for as long as i can remember. It got much louder this summer and i had to turn the temp lower and lower to get the desired temp. Sounds like a defect but i'm pretty sure Honda'll just say it was my falt. |
