Many people have been inquiring about being able to add a Non-IPOD MP3 Player to a 2006 Pilot EX-L w/Nav. After much research I believe this is possible. I have not installed the system yet but plan to in the next couple weeks. Here are the details.

The good news is that it IS possible to connect an MP3 player to your factory radio and retain the use of your 6-disc in-dash changer, XM, Radio and Navigation. You need to have either an XM or an externally mounted (not an in-dash) factory CD changer in order to use the X-3 system. Since the EX-L w/Nav has XM built in you can use the X-3 system.
Your XM, Nav, Changer, and all other radio functions will operate as they do now. Nothing will change in how the radio functions with the X-3 installed. The X-3 has its own user interface that, when you activate XM, it brings the X-3 system on-line in the XM mode. You can then use the X-3 user interface, which has a momentary contact push-button on it, to toggle through XM, aux input 1, aux input 2, aux input 3, XM, aux input 1, aux input 2, aux input 3. Each time you push the button, the X-3 moves to the next input.
You can use the X-3, seen here: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piex3auxconv.html,
along with the X3-HON03 cable, seen here: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piex3hon03.html.
This will give you the auxiliary input and retain the use of all your radio functions which will allow a RCA connection to your MP3 Player.
Please reply to this post if you get this to work before I do. |

This does work. I just had this installed (PIE X3 and X3-HON03) along with a Clarion 10.2" overhead DVD over the past weekend. Everything works and sounds great!
The switch box will switch between XM and the various aux inputs. |

rbgrant,
Great news...I'm sure other users will be interested in knowing that this option works.
Do you have any instructions on how to install the device in addition to instructions on how to remove the OEM radio? |

Unfortunately no. I had the player and PIE interface installed by a local audio shop. However, from other posts here it looks like a pretty simple process.
