Hi everyone. I have a 06 ex-l. yesterday on my way home from work a message appeared saying check fuel cap. well it was tight and this morning same message. pilot runs fine. i just hit the advance knob and it goes away. but everytime i start it same thing i just turned 5400 miles. there is a post in the ridgeline forum that talks about negative pressure in the fuel tank. anyone else have this?

I had the same thing occur with my new 06. Live in NJ so it's full service. Gas attendant filled up and did not close the cap properly. I knew it when it happend but did not jump out to click the cap. I forgot about it and a day later the check fuel cap message came on. I took it to the dealer and they hooked the computer to it and cleared the message. Now I'm much more careful about the cap after fueling. Hope this helps.

Make sure you tighten the fuel cap at least four "clicks".

The same thing happened to my '06 at 2500mi. No visible reason as cap was tight and I am the only person who drives it. Followed what the manual said to reset it but it kept coming on just the same. Took it to dealer after 2 weeks and they reset it after checking out possible causes. Has not reappeared since (2 months ago).
