2006 Gas Tank Slosh - Click HERE for Original Thread
juz
I know there are plenty of threads discussing Gas Tank Slosh but they seem to have died off with the 2005 and 2006 models.

I'd be interested to here if anyone else with an 06 is experiencing problems and moreso, has anyone found anything they can do about it?

As I understand it the slosh issue used to occur at half tank or less.

On my 06 it is not an issue unless the tank is full or nearly full (3/4). Its not so much a slosh as a knock as the full fuel slaps against the tank top. Extremely annoying.

Seems Honda may have gone some way to fixing the old issue but have introduced a new one.

Does anyone know if there is any space between the underbody panels and the top of the tank?? If so, the dealers may be able to install some sort of soundproofing if enough people have the issue and complain enough.

Sloshing is also notable in the '05, but occurs when the tank is full or half-full. Not sure about the spacing inbetween the tank and underbody, but I remember another member removing the seats and capeting to put sound deadening material on the floorboard to help alleviate the problem.

yes sloshing occurs when the tank in towards the full side...

I think what Honda did was to make the tank bigger in 04 (or 05)...it reduced the problem but it did not go away

Yeah, had seen that post but figure in a brand new vehicle it shouldn't be me who has to go through that to fix the issue.

I may notice it more than some as the underbody coating on my vehicle apparently has the added benefit of reducing road noise by as much as 50%. As such its pretty much silent with A/C and radio off until you get to highway speeds.

It's a special feature of the Pilot, an "Audible Fuel Confirmation Tone" ;)
