Fog lights without trim....need some confirmation - Click HERE for Original Thread
kajukenbo
I just picked up my new Pilot over the weekend. After driving around for a couple days I would have to say I am very happy with the purchase so far except with the leaking driver side windshield spray nozzle. :(

I have purchased the foglights without trim. I think it makes the car looks better especially at night. The black plastic casing around the foglights blends in with the stock bumper pretty well. However, my co-worker who also has a Pilot told me that my foglights are not the OEM style.......how can you tell? anyone?

On the foglight lens, it says that the foglights is made by Rayburg (spell?). I know Rayburg makes alot of aftermarket lighting systems. Can someone confirm if they indeed have the same foglights.....please
Chettie
You've probably already looked at hondacuraworld.com, but this is the pic they use for the oem ones.

Actually, the above picture does not accurately depict the trim piece on the OEM fog lights.

Unfortunately, I don't have a close-up picture of my fogs, but I've seen other pictures of the Honda fog lights on this board previously. A search would probably turn them up.

The factory fog lighs, mount in about the same place as shown in the picture.
The difference is that the lights are mounted about even with the face of the bumper on th edge near the center of the car, and are about an inch in front of the bumper at the outer edge.
The kit comes with a trim piece that fits arond the light and covers the hole that is cut to mount them.
The trim piece looks like an extension of the grey section in the center of the bumper.
I don't mind the look. It is not as integrated as some, but not as bad as add on lights.
I will post some pictures in a few min.

Same label on lens of my Dealer installed fog lights. Agree the picture above is wrong.

yup, based on what you guys have said, that is what I have (not the same as the picture posted by Chettie, but thanks Chettie for helping out)

The light intensity of the foglights is pretty much the same as the headlights. I am very happy with it. When I get a chance, I will take some picture of it.

Thanks for all your feedbacks.....

I had posted earlier, but I never got an actual install of the no trim. Maybe the no trim is meant to be installed with the lower bumper guard. Just curious, how prone is the foglight to damage from parking (from yourself or others). Has anyone ordered the foglight without trim?
N_Jay
I think they are sold as "Foglights for vehicles without lower trim, and foglights for vehicles with the lower trim. The with or withour refers to the lower bumper trim accessory.
The without Trim kit, should have the covers as shown in my pictures.

I was concerned that the dealer pulled an after-market switch on me, but my setup is the same as you have described. Thanks for the pics N-Jay.

Belated answer to agw1's 10/7/02 question: Front of bumper sits well in front of fog light so it's pretty well protected from straight on bump[or side bump for that matter]. That said, if someone or something bumped you or you bump it just right at 45 degree angle, there could be some damage to fog light. I suppose someone could also catch you [or you could catch something] in an extreme offset bump straight-in in front, missing the front of bumper but catching the light. My punchline: possible but not a major concern for me.
