Well, I did it. I'm trading my beloved Pilot for an Odyssey. It's a wierd feeling.
I've never owned anything without 4WD before. But for my family, I think it's a good move. The added curtain airbags, lower entry height, and more room for the kiddos is a definite plus, as is the sunroof for me (always wanted one). If the current Ody had been out in '04, I probably would have bought one.
I've enjoyed every moment in my Pilot. It's a very capable and comfortable vehicle. And if my kids were older, I think it would still be perfect. But at 5 months and 2 years, I think a van is the better solution for them. I can still get an '12 Pilot. :D
ANYWAY, I really enjoy this forum, much more so that the Ody boards, so I'll still be around, if'n ya don't mind. |

The Ody's name will probably be Odie after the dog in Garfield.
Yeah, Wong, I'll have to get hooked up with some of your pads. I shoulda bought the pilar protection and console pads for the Pilot, but just never got around to it.......like the pinstriping and chrome exhaust tips.
I'm looking up accessories now, since I really didn't look into them too much before. I'm looking into wheel/tire combo's as well. |

Congrats.
We made the move to a Sienna for similar reasons. Getting the Twins in and out of the Pilot was getting tiring, There was no room for stuff if we used the 3rd row.
We liked the AWD of the Pilot but almost never used it, little to no snow around here.
Have fun Driving Odie. |

Of course you can still come over to play, you're still a Honda owner. Good Luck with the Odyssey. I hope you like it. I too enjoyed the conveniences of the van when my children were that age. My are able to climb in and out of the Pilot with little help. Maybe you will return when it is time to trade in the van.
See you on the message board |

| We started with an MDX that we had traded for a AWD Sienna after having many many problems with the MDX. After lemoning the Sienna we wound up back at the Pilot because the Ody doesn't have AWD which we require. We found that even with 1 child and a dog, the mini-van was much more versatile and my wife misses it very much. She says that if Honda ever releases an AWD Ody, we will be first in line trading the Pilot. Good Luck with it! |

I'd love to, but it's still somewhere in Syracuse. They're doing a trade, but when it comes in, they said they'd give me a call. I probably won't get it until Saturday.
Already ordered some accessories, though:D |

Ody pre-accessories. I stopped and had it pin-striped on the way home.
Gotta do somethin' about those wheels:o |

| So how were the Michelin CT's? Looking to replace the Goodyears. Thinking about the LTX's also. Any thoughts. Just Picking your brain for suggestions. Thanks! :1: |

I replaced the Goodyears the day after I bought it. I drove it a whole 60 miles, so I can't do a good comparison, other than to say the tire "whine" was at a much lower pitch with the Cross Terrains. The ride seems a bit softer, too.
They were pretty good in the snow, though I thought my LTX's on the Exploder were better in the snow. |

I will soon be joining you, unfortunately. Child #3 on the way and we will be trading our Pilot for an Odyssey, sometime this fall. I would like to have AWD, but it is almost never used now. It took us awhile to get past the "owning a minivan" thing, but now we have moved from denial to acceptance.
I agree that odyclub is no where near as informative, friendly or fun to browse as hp.org has been. I'm sure I will still browse here, but it's kind of like the friend from college you say you will keep in touch with, suddenly you haven't seen each other in years and have little in common anymore...sad really.
Some may ask why not trade the Accord instead of the Pilot, but the Pilot is worth more and both are paid off, so I will drive the Accord indefinitely, Wife and kids get the new car, again...:) |

CNYGuy,
The end is not near, it is yet another beginning. The Ody is a great vehicle for the kids. After hauling my 2 little angels and my wife's cousin's toddler around all weekend, plus adults, strollers, diaper bags, luggage, etc. it was MUCH easier and flexible than the Pilot would have been in the same situation. With kids in carseats, a van is a much easier way to go.
I'm still here every night I'm on-line, and I'm on the Ody board only when I'm looking for answers to questions. |

here's the link for the ad for my Pilot. Looks like somebody drove it over the weekend, 'cause it has a hundred or so more miles than when I sold it.

If it were driven for another 110 miles, the new mileage would exactly match the selling price. :D |

Now I am ready to move from Pilot to Odyssey...I think we will be getting the EXL-RES/NAV, didn't want to break the bank just for PAX tires and a lift gate.
Wondering what people think is reasonable price for my Pilot. It is a 2004 EXL-RES, with foglights, crossbars and running boards, mileage is OK at 42,000.
NADA trade in 22k, retail 25k
KBB trade in 17-20k, retail 20-24k.
It is paid for, so I'm not upside down, and would like to sell it privately, ideally for 20-22k. Any thoughts on that price or venues to sell it in? I'm thinking of cars.com or autotrader.com but wanted to know if anyone has had any luck with these sites.
Thanks for your thoughts and feedback. |

You could a a "local" search on the autotrader website ( www.autotrader.com ) and see what similar examples are selling for in you area and go from there.
Good luck! |

| Well, this is the week. I trade in the Pilot for a 2007 Odyssey EXL-R&N. A little sentimental to see her go, but happy about the new car also. Lucy Catherine was born 10.12.06, so now there are 5 of us, and the Odyssey makes a lot of sense. Like waynerd, I'm sure I'll still browse and maybe even contribute here, it is hard to leave the group "cold turkey"... |
