cargo cover instructions for 06/03-05??? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I received a cargo cover for my 2004 Pilot from a user on eBay, but what he sent, that is supposed to fit in a 2003-2005, doesn't fit in mine. Question: Are the covers different for any of the years of pilots, more specifically different for a 2006 vs. the 2003-2005's? The ends of the span that should mount in to my side slots in the vehicle are shaped differently that the one he sent, and it is easily 3-4 inches more narrow than what would be needed to fit in the back of my '04. Also, anyone have access to a pdf copy of the 2004, 2005, 2006 installation instructions? The copy I have found is only applicable to a 2003, or so it says. Thanx in advance.

There should be no difference, other than interior colors, from '03 through '06 for the cargo cover. The cover does taper off at the ends somewhat. Pull it all the way out, and hook it into the G shaped hooks in the tailgate "pillars" and you're good to go. When it's out, the cargo cover should look like the tailgate might hit it when you close the tailgate, as shown in this picture.

On my cargo cover for the 06, the third row seat belts get in the way on the sides. Any idea how to remedy this?

You have to disconnect the seat belts from their anchorages in the 3rd row seat. They retract into the D-Pillars and roof. This is in your owner's manual.

hey, where is the best place to get a cargo cover? I like that look. I guess after a year and a half, i should pick one up.

How sturdy is the cover as a shelf by the way? It's pretty long

The physical size and mounting locations for the 03-06 models is the same, so all factory cargo covers will work on any year Pilot. Problem is with the colors - they changed 'em a bit for '06, so if you're looking for an exact match, stick with a model year part number for your vehicle.

But don't confuse that cargo cover for anything more than that. Basically, it's a shade that pulls out of a roller and hooks to 2 slots on the rear of the cargo area. It has zero strength to put anything on top of.

I bought mine from tim at hondacuraworld last december - I think the price was $120 or so. I got one for my '06 LX since it didn't have dark-tint rear windows, so you could see everything in the rear. Our '04 EX has the rear window tint, and it's pretty hard to see anything inside of the rear end, so that one doesn't have the shade.

I owned the '04 for 18 months before I realized the 3rd row belts could be unclipped from the anchor points and folded up into the rear pillars. Much to my amazement, these were discussed in the owners manual. Must have missed it the first 30 times I looked thru it. :D

oh sorry should have mentioned i have an 05 :)

since it has no strength though, i will prob pass on it.

Thanks so much for the info, i really needed to know that.

yeah, it's amazing what u miss when u read the manual.

I missed the part on the center belts the firest few times through and when i needed them, i didn't know how to use them :)

Now i do ... what a neat design.
