How do you move/slide the cross bars along the roof rails of an 06 Pilot?
jay
From the installation instructions, it looks like Honda didn't intend for them to move; but I guess you could loosen the torx bolts and slide them, then re-tighten.:8:

I think the Honda crossbars ARE designed to be moved to whatever location you choose because they're mounted on what appears to be 'sliders'. For example, you would need to move them to mount different brand/size cargo boxes. It does looks like a pain the @#$ to have to take out a torx driver everytime you want to move them though.

This is why I'm still on the fence to go with these or a set of Yakima Lowriders crossbars. I do like the lower profile and cleaner look of the Honda bars though.

Decisions decisions...

If they did intend for them to move, why did they use torx bolts AND mark spots where they go?

I suspect the torx bolts are for theft deterrence and the spots are to line up the crossbars for minimum wind noise. If they're not supposed to move then explain why Honda's own Pilot accessories catalog shows different bar locations for each of the different rooftop accessory??? :8: (see image below)

Also if you go with one of the larger Yakima or Thule cargo boxes, you will need to be able to move the crossbars fore or aft to adjust for attachment locations, and more importantly, rear hatch clearance.
