I need a grey 2003 hood... - Click HERE for Original Thread

...I have a dinged up hood that I think would be easier to replace than fix and I am guessing I could DIY fairly easily. Is there any place to buy just a "hood"? I have done a few searches and come up empty. I live in Ohio and have a buddy that works at the factory...I had mentioned to him about "plucking one out of the store room" but he thinks it might be too big to fit under his jacket. (seriously, he doesn't think he can grab one at cost and have me pay him back or at least he has never heard of it being done).

Anyone have any ideas? Search here did not yield much but maybe I didn't use the right terms etc.

TIA,

Joe

$327.44 plus shipping. Confirm that it fits your car. Not sure how you specify color - maybe calling them? I just did 2003 EX.

Wow, that's great...and good blow up for when I swap it out..thanks.

Right now I am trying to find a used one of the same color but this is a great "last resort".

Thanks again,

Joe

You can't order a painted hood directly. You order the hood and arrange to have it painted. I doubt anyone will ship you a painted hood and guarantee it will survive shipping unscratched. That's why it says NO COLOR - it likely comes primed. And there is no guarantee that the color will actually match if it is painted appart from the vehicle. Best bet to get a painted hood is a "junk yard" that has one where the damage is elsewhere.

Good point.

I overlooked the no color bit :D.

I wonder how much it would cost to paint it...

collision shops should be able to match the color with the color code. But best to shop around.

Used is definitely a cheaper option.

Good luck!

this looks like a best last resort if I am in pinch: http://motors.search.ebay.com/searc...prclo=&saprchi=

BTW, my wife and I had 3 cars as I bought another before I had to turn in a leased car. We decided that we would "save miles" by parking the pilot for a few months (it's our long distance road warrior). We parked it on far edge of driveway. As it truns out it was under an acorn tree. Last year was some sort of stressful season for acorns and a zillion fell on the pilot denting the crap out of it! Really the hood took the worst out of it.

So by "saving miles" I will be spending 2x the savings on the hood. My wife and I are hammerheads.
