Hello,
My dash light does not go on when driving through a tunnel. The other illumination come on such as the radio, clock, etc.
Question: is the dash light supposed to turn on automatically? Seems like it should as everything else does.
How can I fix this on my own?
Thanks

The dashlights only turn on with the parking lights and headlights. These are equipped with an auto-off, but not an auto-on feature. So, you must manually turn your headlights on when entering a tunnel (BTW. this is the law in PA, not sure about other states). |

| So your best bet is to leave them on all the time--it won't hurt anything and they will turn off automagically for you anyway. |

I am not concerned about the headlights being on all the time as much as I am about the tail and dashboard lights.
If the taillights are on all the time are they bright enough to confuse following motorists that you are applying the brakes.
I realize that Honda decided not to include a twilight sentinel as an option. Instead opting for the auto-off feature. Is there any sort of after market product that would detect changing light conditions on a Pilot/Ridgeline? |

I have also wondered about the taillights being on all the time.
The other side effect--if you have Navi--is that it is in night mode too. By default, this is a black background which is more difficult to see in daytime. You can change this, but then you end up with a bright annoying background at night too.
I know people have put auto-on modules in cars, because I know someone who did it in his Passat. Might take some electrical know-how, but all-in-all shouldn't be too complicated. |

Don't know about the latest Pilots, but my new Accord, in addition to daytime running lights, also has a brightened dash with the main lights off. The dash actually dims when the headlights are turned on. I really like the daytime dash lights.
