Do you have a tattoo? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I would make a poll if I knew how to. I'm just curious and if so, does it have a special meaning or did you get it on a whim?
ramirami
do you want a poll

or make it "show your tattoo"....
Alexandra242628
How about both?
Pilot-Matt
I don't have of pic but I have a tattoo of three connecting hearts on my back shoulder with my three daughters names in each one. I also have Wile E Coyote on one of my calves.
:D

You couldn't get me drunk enough to get a tattoo. Hair styles and fashions may come and go but tattoos are like aids......you die with them. Believe me, there will be BIG money to be made from tattoo removal in coming years.
colorider
I have one on each arm that I got while in the Navy over 40 years ago. I'm not one bit ashamed of them. I think many tattoos are in very good taste - but some are overdone.

Yes, I will die with them. So what?
hondacuraworld
I plan on getting one this year to cover a scar on the back of my right calf from a tractor accident last year. The scar's not more than discolored skin, but that being said it's better looking than what's there.
CMasten
when I was a little kid I asked my Dad what his naval was... he didnt even flinch and said "Son, it used to be a tattoo of a pigs ass ... but its all faded away except the hole!" so .. I only asked that question once, lol I miss that kind of humor :)

I'd rather show the scar.

I have one that has meaning. I have a Celtic wrap around my wrist and on the under side where the band meets, I have an ankh (symbol for life) with three jems beneath it each colored the favorite colors of my Wife, Son and myself.

Funny thing is my 64 year old Father turned away in disgust when he 1st saw it at a glance. He went home and told everyone in the Family that I got a tattoo of a cross with bleeding tears dripping from it....LOL. That same old jacka$$ who turned away now has three of his own which include a Dragon and a Scorpion of which neither have meaning. I say if you're gonna do it, do something that has meaning to you.
Alexandra242628
I have one on my lower back (tramp stamp!). It was drawn for me and it is one drawing that has the symbols of the zodiac signs of my daughter (Taurus) and son (Aquarius).
hondacuraworld
I thought forever on what I wanted to get, and being that it should fit your persona, I want to get a flying eagle with one wing that is held together with a bracket and screws, or maybe bandages and tape......

I gotta be true to who I am, after all ;)
OB3
I have a small lightning bolt on my right arm/shoulder. I went with a group of 5 other guys in college, all ready to get their tattoo's that night.
I was the first to go. All the other 5 guys wimped out afer me.

That was about 20 years ago. They stupid things we do :)

My son always tells me to go wash it off, I wish i could.
jay
No tatoos or piercings here. I know a guy my Mom's age who got a tatoo with his grandchild when the kid turned 18. It's on his upper arm, about where a vaccination mark would be, so you only see it when he's at the gym wearing a tank top.:p

Funny you should say that. I've thought about getting a 2nd one of a colorful bullseye around my Smallpox vaccination with "Est 1968" underneath it.

This is sorta how mine happened in the Navy. For the first, 3 of us went into San Francisco our last evening before our first WESTPAC cruise. We all ended up with the same tattoo. My other one was down on Hotel street in Honolulu with a buddy of mine. We were both going to get the same one, but he chickened out after seeing all the blood on my arm as it was being done. Big wimp!!! :D

I doubt I ever would have gotten one had I not went into the Navy. It just seemed "natural" at the time. They do not bother me and if they bother others - well - I feel they have the problem - not me.

Tatoos, NO THANKS.......especially on chicks. belly button ring is cool, but no tats or face piercings. Showing my age I guess.

I once heard "A scar is a tattoo with a better story",
I think the reciprocal is usually true; "A tattoo is a scar with a boring story"!:4:

I thought we've talked about everything here, but not this!

I LOVE tattoo art, as long as it's done well. I want a tatoo of my 3 kids birthflowers somehow done low low low on my back where no one would ever see it, not even in low jeans. Okay, yeah a tramp stamp.

So far been too picky about the artwork I've seen around here, or I'd have one by now.
hondacuraworld
That's very true. It has to be original, yet well done. A lot of ones I'm starting to see pop up on people look like they were done by an iron-on transfer or by the cake decorator at the local supermarket.....
stlblues
Most tatoo stories I've heard usually start out, "I was really drunk,,,,,,,"

Generally when I see a girl with a tatoo, I think skank.
A6Pilot
I'm reminded of something a flight attendant told me awhile back. She told her daughter to remember that the rose bud tattooed on her boob today will eventually become a long stem rose. She never told how she found this out. Be careful out there!

I agree with the above. Tatoos on a chick is a turn off for me.

Like I told the kid at the grocery store.

"If you are not already unique enough to be yourself, that won't help!":D

Or as I say to others; "Look, he is trying to be unique by doing what everyone else is doing!"

Two rabid pitbulls tearing apart a small child while a vulture pecks at the eyes..........don't ask, just a suggestion.

I decided I want to get an eagle in flight, with a broken wing held together with either a bracket and screws, or something creative, and carrying a piston in his claws.

I think that about sums up my life :)

I've noticed! This thread has turned into the gathering of us olde farts!

I only pop in once in a while now, not recognizing most names, and tired of repeat subjects.

Back to tatoos...The eagle sounds great, Tim...personalized. Funny that artwork should mean 'naughty' in this society. If you have any luck with Brett, let us know...he does amazing work. I wonder how long the wait is to see him? Good luck with that!
Alexandra242628
Skank? Yuck. No skanks here. Mine can't be seen unless I'm in a bathing suit and even then it is pretty much covered.

Here is the sketch that my guy made for me based on my kids' zodiac signs. This was the first draft. I had him change the points of the waves to be not as sharp. Looked like chicken claws to me. Anyways, the wave colors are blue, seafoam and white and the horn colors are magenta and pink.

Frankly I just don't understand why you would want one in a place where you can't see it yourself. Unless you figure in a couple of years seeing it would be a constant reminder of how dumb of a thing it was to do.

Attention women, forget the tatoos, get something we all can enjoy, IMPLANTS......and no such thing as too big.

Hmmm... the fact that they attract guys like stlblues is a pretty good reason NOT to get implants. :D

I don't really see myself ever getting a tattoo. They look great on young firm skin, but as you get saggy, and the ink fades, blech.

I gotta admit, she has gone a bit too much!!!!

You seem to have misinterpreted something I said. I don't have an earing. Again - personal choice and if a guy decides to do one in his (left) ear, that's okay by me. It's not for me to judge......

I have a butterfly on ivy on my ankle, some butterflys flying around on my lower back, a ladybug on a leaf on my upper back and a butterfly landing on a rose in the front on my abs. I got the first one on my ankle to show a change in my life of loosing a lot of weight and getting into shape. Then I got my butterflys on my lower back and the ladybug on my upper back after I got arrested 3 years ago for a DUI. I needed something to cheer me up after that bad time in my life and tattoos cheer me up. Then 2 weeks ago I felt it was time again to get another one and I got the butterfly landing on a rose on my abs. Well thats my story of all my tats.

Fraternity tattoo on ankle. I don't regret it all, 9 years out of college and still an involved alumni and my best friends are my Fraternity brothers.

None here. The sight of the saggy naked lady on my dad's friend's fore-arm (same story as Colorider) was enough to turn me off.

Funny thing was, he was single until he was in his early sixty's, and his new wife made him get his "girl" a bikini. I think he gave her a little "surgery" too, because I saw him (and the redone tat) a few years ago, and it looked better.

One of my classmates from high school is a tattoo artist, and last I saw him, he looked a little freaky, with art all over his arm and neck (I'm assuming elsewhere, but he had on a shirt and tie) and those big holes in his earlobes. I never understood that one, myself.
acornct_dad
Yes, I got a tattoo years ago when I was in the Navy. It is on my upper left back close to my shoulder. It is a hillbilly. When I was in the Navy most guys had either anchors, ships, dragons, U.S. Navy, eagles, etc. I wanted something different so I saw this tattoo and said that was the one for me.

My son is in the Army and has tattoos all over. He wants me to get another one. I will wait and see what he wants me to get. One of his buddys here in town runs the local tattoo shop. My son says that he is designing a special tattoo for both of us to get. Who knows?

Posted this almost two years ago, still never got one. In my case, kind of glad I didn't.....tattoos can remind us of who we are and where we've been, but sometimes you reach a stage in life where the things that at the time you want to always remember, you end up wanting to forget......

Speaking personally, of course :)
N_Jay
I hear that a scar is just a tatoo with a good story.

So I guess I look at tatoos as ust self inflicted scars without a good story. ;)
