I am leaving for a 2 week road trip from SI NY to Quebec City to Maine Coast to Cape Cod. I have a few things lined upo in Maine, but I am having issues trying to find some points of interest in Quebec City. Rather than wing the entire stay up there, i thought i would see if anyone here has any recco's on things to do up there ??
Any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks

| Drink beer.........Now on Cape Cod, Whale watching in Ptown...got some awsome shots, excellent bike trails (did 100.3 miles), nice beaches but the waters a bit cold, Sandwich is a cool Cape town, we stayed in Brewster. Another nice costal area is Hampton Beach in Hew Hampshire. And of course........Great seafood. Montreal was nice, havent visited Quebec City. |

| Been a long time since I've been to Maine, but Booth Bay Harbor was a fun little place to eat lobster and get the "Maine" experience. I've never been to Quebec City, but have fun!! |

Well, Maine has a great coast to check out the different rock formations and some nice parks going down. Assumingyou'll be heading down from Presque Isle and Caribou down thru Bangor and then to the coast. Hit LL Bean in Rockport, and you can cruise past George Bush (the elder's) house in Kennebunkport. Once you start getting close to the NH line you hit all of the outlets in Kittery, then the beaches in NH (take route 1A). Seafood at any stop along the way will be great - you won't go wrong!!

Last time I looked Beans was in Freeport....
Arcadia National Park, The lakes in Maine, Boothbay habor for a fishing cruise.
In Mass I think Gloucester, Ma or NE aquarium (Boston) provide better lauching points for Whale watches. We just did one from www.neaq.com (NE Aquarium) and had the most fabulous trips everl. Whales were feeding like mad so impressive. Boats are far faster than they ever were. 35 mph on water feels pretty quick.
PT is going through one of those lets all be politically correct moments that communities can sometimes suffer through. |

Seriously !!!!
I did however alter my trip a bit bc of it.
I originally was going to drive from Quebec to Bar Harbor Maine, then take the fast cat ferry to Nova Scotia and return back to Portland. But that round trip would have cost over $800.
I decided to take an extra day driving, drive from Quebec to Nova Scotia with a layover in new Brunswick haldway. Then just take a ferry from Yarmouth to Bar Harbor, for $305
They tacked on a 25 dollar gas charge, and 10 dollar per person charge.
Just more beautiful scenery to view in the Pilot.

| We drove from Jefferson City MO to Cape Cod, biked most of that week but did run from Brewster to Ptown a couple of times for whale watching and cycling up there, then to Smugglers Notch via side trip to Boston, then from the Notch, a side trip to Montreal and then Hampton Beach and S Maine. Fortunaltely we traded in the Pilot on an Odyssey and got 27+mpg. the Pilot was hovering in the 18-20 range. Still wasn't cheap and its worse now, gas was $2.90 avg in early June. |
