When I was at the dealership for first oil change he mentioned upon the second one that they do some routine checks and such and that visit would include an oil change but would also cost $150?
Did any of you experience at the 2nd Oil change a bill of $150 for whatever it is or was that they check or do at this time?
I remember him saying if the service light comes on thats normal at around 6500 miles (and it is on now) I am at 7200 miles (95% of that highway), and I am ready to go back in to get the next oil change but wonder how much of whatever they were gonna do for this $150 is neccessary and or if my warranty will be in jeopardy if I DON'T do what they say at the 7500 mile oil change visit.
Just seemed a bit weird to me (and expensive).

| That is why they are called the $tealer by many, a total rip-off. I think I heard somewhere that if you do your own maintenance and just sign the maint. sched in the back of your owners manual, they shouldn't give you any fuss about warranty issues. But don't quote me on that. |

My dealer did my first free oil change and I never looked back. So far, I go through it from end to end when I change out my oil (every 4K miles) and thus far have swaped out the tranny fluid, the vtm fluid and the cabin filter along with the air filter... at 19,000 miles and 1.6 years, all for about what you just said your 2nd visit was. I find that most of the (valve timing adjustments, belt adjustments etc) they quote are a bunch of crap, Honda's are all pretty much self adjusting to my knowledge, but members here i.e Rapid Rob et all would be able to shed some light on this.
Brakes are something I could probably do, but chose not to, I have a failry honest local dealer, but the one you went to sounds like they need more $$$ for their quarter! whats included in this 150.00 deal? |

they want to do more than the maintenance schedule in the manual suggests. I firmly tell the service writer that I am only doing what the manual calls for at the appropriate mileage. I usually have manual in hand and state exactly what they are to do. Fred |

2nd maintenance usually come up with Code A16 which including tire rotation and sometimes VTM-4 fluid change.
If they do tire rotation/VTM-4 fluid change, then it's reasonable.
My dealer told me they what about the same money for my 2nd service and I told them just the oil change for $35cdn (which consider to be expensive already).
I rotate the tire in the local tire shop for free and did the VTM-4 change myself for around $40cdn. It's rather simple for DIY. ;) |

Your first change should have been at 7,500 miles unless you fall under the severe service schedule which is not likely.
So the second change should be at ~15,000 and should include:
Oil ($25-$30)
Rotate tires ($20)
VTM-4 oil change ($45-$60)
Thats it. $150 to 'check a bunch of stuff' is just a scam to get your money. Don't do it.

| Screw that. First of all your warranty isn't in jeopardy AT ALL if you choose not to have the stealership do your oil changes. I do my own, save my receipts and fill in the scheduled maintenance book. It's a complete rip-off if you ask me. U honestly don't need the damn VTM fluid changed that early either. |
