Headliner ragged where meets windshield - Click HERE for Original Thread
mmmmark
I installed the autodimming compass mirror last night. It was pretty easy and works fine.

BUT, I noticed while getting up near the mirror how absolutely CRAPPY the headliner looks up next to the windshield. (I'll try to remember to post a picture when I'm at home.) There is no trim piece of any kind and the fabric is just cut all ragged and just has uneven fringey pieces hanging around.

Is there supposed to be a trim piece up here? Holy heck, this is the cheapest thing I've seen yet. I thought the interior plastics were cheap, but this is ridiculous.

Someone else let me know what yours is like please. Thanks.

I'm surprised that no one else has a gripe about this. Maybe mine is worse than average.

Is anyone else's look like it was cut with dull scissors and left all ragged?

They all do to some extent. Mine does. I just don't look up at it, so I don't get irritated. Same with our Accord and Ody. Standard, I'm afraid. Honda assumes (correctly, I believe) most people won't notice.

I noticed the same thing when I did my mirror. Believe it or not, this is just how it is on most new cars. You'd really think they'd cap it with some sort of trim, but they don't. I put an autodimming mirror on my Mazda and it's the same way. Same thing in my wife's Corolla too.

Ours looks fine - not ragged and no threads hanging. :8:

The headliner in my xB is neat and tidy. I don't recall the Pilot headliner being ragged, and don't have any pictures at the proper angle to refresh my recollection.

It's not something you can see, you kind of have to feel it with your finger. It's just a rough edge, kinda feels like there should be some sort of cap or end on it.

If the windsheild has ever been replaced, the knife they use to cut it out runs very close to the headliner around it. And I agree the plastic is very cheap inside. Not like other Honda's I have owned. I guess it comes with just trying to keep the price down.

Not sure if this may be related. My wife's '03 needed the windshield replaced last fall. Soon after, you could feel a draft on your hands. My wife was convinced the windshield was leaking air. I tracked it back to the headliner. It seems that after the windshield was replaced, there is now a small gap between the headliner and the windshield trim. When driving down the road the headliner must act as a diaghram as unheated air 'puffs' out now and then. I never noticed this gap before as it's not visible, but I know for certain there was never air blowing onto my hands when I drove it. I have tried pushing it up thinking maybe there were clips of some sort to hold it but it doesn't seem to want to move.
