Hey everyone
i am just wondering about everyones gas milage in the pilot (city wise). It ways on the sticker its 17mpg but to me it feels more like 12 LOL. I drive normally. dont force the car or anything. Can it be the break in process? I read somewhere that this can be why lower gas milage....what do u think? |

it's been discussed many times. :)
17 MPG is pretty good already. when I got my Pilot new, I usually got around 14~15 MPG in city. The best I got ever was trip to Portland with 19MPG. :) |

| 12 mpg is the low end of average but it should improve a bit after 5-10K miles or so. |

Thanks for the replies guys i was just a little concerned. between 15-17 is great for this type of vehicle while 12 sucksssss big time.

i don't really have much to add...i do lots of city and freeway driving...so i can't calculate what im getting for each. but on the avergage im getting 17 mpg...getting about 300 miles and then filling up 17 gallons for a full tank.
btw, i got my pilot about 2 weeks ago...so i'm hoping this will increase over time :4: |

I do different kinds of driving and have experienced these mpgs:
(Current 48k on vehicle)
To and from work, fairly extreme start and stop driving (Houston, Tx): 15-17
Around town, low mph but moving consistently: 17-18 mph
Strict HWY, 70-75mph, long trip, no roof attachments: 22-23mph
Strict HWY, 70-75 mph, long trip, with car top carrier and roof mounted bicycle: 19-20 mph
Hope this helps. |

One of the things the adversely affects mpg is hilly or even slightly hilly terrain. It's one of the reasons that we (and a lot of others) see city mpg in the 12-14 range. |

| We were getting about 15 to 16 city and 21 highway, my parents have gotten as high as 25 with theirs, we traded our on an Odyssey and have been getting 19 city and 27 to 28 highway........and we drive aggresively. Some of you are only getting 12? I've been getting 13 to 14 with my V8 4x4 Titan with 800 lbs of tools in the bed and 17 highway........now I don't feel so bad. |

The Pilot V6 mpg is horrendous compared to the size and power of some of other manufactures larger engines/vehicles. I'm curious, what do you get for hwy mileage on the Titan? I'm getting 14 city/20 hwy with the 5.3L in the much heavier Silverado Crew Cab - which is exactly what we get in the Pilot. We would probably get higher in both but we live in a hilly area. |

I'm getting 17-18 on the highway, but the Titan has a huge power advantage over the Chevy. I had a Chevy before the Titan and there is no comparison. I can smoke an SS. 5.7 Hemis are no problem either. A friend traded in his 2500HD with the 6.0 on a Titan because of the power advantage. Off the line I raced a guy I know with a 3500 8.0, both with a car on a flatbed trailer, I beat him and wasn't on it very hard. The Titan motors aren't the most fuel effiecnt, but the power is phenomonal....and they drive like cars, sporty cars, not like trucks. I've had six aquaintances leave Ford and Chevy most 3/4 tons for the Nissan, Dodge owners aren't bright enough. I'm waiting to see how Toyota one ups Nissan on thier next truck. |

Thanks, my needs are general homeowner light hauling so the 5.3L has plenty of power. I'm more concerned about getting full size truck capabilities with the best mpg given gas prices theses days. The one thing I hated about the current Tundra Crew Cab was the feeling like you were sitting on the floor, it wasn't comfortable at all. |

I'm a contractor so I need a dependable truck that can really work. I've had Chevys and they just didn't hold up and didn't have the power I needed. I love the huge cab on the Titan, asside from the "MEGA"cab Dodge, its the largest on the market, has a tall stance and driving position, but handles like a car. The only vehicle I've owned thats as much fun to drive is an Integra GSR. My wife wouldn't drive the Chevys, I have to keep her from trying to take my truck. Sam traded a 2500HD for his and in the past 6 months, he has only let his wife drive it twice........she's pissed, she loves driving it, she said a couple of weeks ago she wants to trade her 05 Trailblazer on an Armada, but cant get anything for it. |

| Never got mileage figures that low, 16-17 miles per gallon city, highway 20 miles per gallon at 80 miles per hour, 22 miles per gallon at 75 miles per hour, 23 miles per gallon at 70 miles per hour. When the Pilot was brand spanking new never got below 17 miles per gallon ever. |

I usually run 80+ and drive aggresively and have 700+lbs of tools in the back. I had a Chevy with a 5.3 and couldn't crack 12 city and 16 highway....and it was guttless, I did better with the older Chevy I had with a 5.7L but it was low on power too. Go drive a Titan anc compare, most people would gladly give up a mile or two to get the power and handling, plus better ride and more room. Mines an 04 with 42K on it and you could offer me ANY other brand new truck even trade and I wouldn't take it. |

| have to report that i am very happy with highway milage. went to canada this week and i got around 23-24 mpg. Very good! :4: |

Just filled up the Pilot for the first time the other day and we got 240 miles while using 17.9 gallons to refill on that first tank which works out to 13.3 miles per gallon not great but According to the dealer these cars will not achieve their best economy until they are truly broken in 5-10K so we'll wait and see.

HAHA! I know what you mean. The wife is from Camden. Most of her family is still in Rome, or somewhere. After my first visit there, I told her she could NEVER go back.
BTW, I get 15.6 MPG, driving like grandma, wqith about 80% on the highway. |

Hi all.
Temperature where I live is around 5 - 10 degrees F.
My mileage has dropped to around 11 mpg with mostly short 5 - 10 minute city driving.
Is this normal? |
