2006 Honda Pilot w/ Nav Trip Computer - Click HERE for Original Thread
tecnu
I'm hoping someone with an 06 Navi can tell me where (if any) to get my trip computer on the Nav screen. I seem to only be able to calculate mpg on the calculator. I'm not talking about Trip A or Trip B on the dash by the speed/tach. Hopefully someone here can help me out with my questions.

Thanks,
jay
There isn't one.

Bingo!
GreenMachine
The 2007 CR-V has one, well at least an instant mpg calculator, so the next Gen Pilot "should" have one.

Honda has had to limit the features of the Pilot so that they did not cannibalize MDX sales. The redesign of the MDX should add enough differentiation to allow Honda to add these features (most of which are already available on the Pilots competition).

There was an add-on DB2 reader can act as a trip computer been talked about here before I believe.

I totally agree on the differentiation part, but some of the things they make exclusive to Acuras are just silly, this being one of them. The Nissan Sentra has a trip computer and that costs about half as much as the Pilot.

I also thing the Pilot could have had larger wheels without taking many MDX sales. I always liked that big LCD screen the MDX has and this was the base model without Navigation. Add the standard leather, sunroof, memory seats, console shifter with gear 4 available, slightly more powerful engine, sportier suspension, dual exhaust outlets, sportier shape (I like the Pilot better though), better warranty, bluetooth, Onstar, and I'm sure I am forgetting some. I think a trip computer could have made it down to the Pilot without affecting sales. Just my opinion though. ;)

I had an 06 Ridgeline with the same Navi that we have in the Pilot... the folks on the Ridgeline group are ticked.. wanna know why??
The folks at honda disabled this feature within the system:3:
There have been many trying to crack the code within the system software but no one has done it yet... any takers to try this hack??
They also did a petition to Honda, but nothing ever came of it
Bottom line like mentioned above, it's in the MDX
They do not want to have a 45K feature in a 30K vehicle, so they disabled it

The MDX is sporty and cool. The Pilot is not. That is enough to diferentiate it from the Pilot. Too bad we got the shafted on the MPG calculator. I thought this was a standard feature on modern cars with navigation. I was dissappointed when I found out it wasn't. It'd be like finding out the sun roof does not open.

And that's the kicker, Honda could add all those features and not cannibalize sales because most buyers who do opt for the MDX, do it for the better handling and looks not becuase it has more gadgets than the Pilot. There are plenty of posts on the MDX site regarding selecting the MDX vs the Pilot and it almost always comes down to handling and style.

And that's just silly. I had a $25k SUV with a trip computer and all kinds of "user programable features" that Honda doesn't include (i.e., auto headlights, autolock y/n, honk with lock y/n, open drive or all doors, etc...).

You want to know what is even more silly? A $40k Volvo has several "user programable features", but you have to go to the Dealer and pay a programming fee to turn them off/on.

Nope..The MDX is smaller and rounder and costs too much for what you get out of it - like my ex.
