Weird Weird Windshield Stuff - Click HERE for Original Thread

I ve got my 06 pilot about 4 weeks a go.
I have this weird thing in the windshield. When the sun is at certein angle I can see very little shiny small dots all along the windshield in the outside part.
First I thought it was dirt from the road, cleaned it over and over with different products, took it to the car wash and nothihg. Again, you can only see it when the sun is right in front of me at certain angle. At this point I am starting to believe that they are all scratches in the winshield, but it is along the whole windshield in every single spot.

I know I can take it to the dealership and tell them, but it seems one of those things that they would not pay too much attention to.

Any clues?

Can you post a Pict for us? might be easier for us to help you with this.

Carefully poor some non acetone nail polish remover on a rag and wipe it in small circles test one spot first..

When I used to tint windows that stuff would get just about everything off the glass..!

sounds like water spots.

if windex / stoner's doesnt get it out and it really bothers you, home depot sells this stuff call spot x - it helps remove waterspots / hard water mineral deposits. Just used it on some of my windows, and it works (though it does take a bit of effort scrubbing)

Here's a true story. On my Accord that I traded in, I had similar spots(can confirm with pics). It ended up that the storage space that the dealer utilised had iron (rusty) beams overhead. Well, my car had stayed in the same spot for a while and the rusty drips from overhead "stained" the windshield.
I would suggest you call one of the managers and tell them you want to bring it by so that they can check it out. If they have had similar issues in the past they may change the windshield and charge it to Honda for pre delivery defect,
Good luck and keep us posted.

I had a problem with a replacement windshield on my Accord Wagon. It turned out there were streaks/a dirty film in between the 2 layers of glass.

They replaced it of course.

I noticed the exact same tiny dots all ove the windshield of my 5 week old 06 LX 2wd under the exact same conditions gauchobass described. Thought I was going crazy as I too haven't been able to successfully "clean" off these dots. It did seem that some of it was due to tiny lint particles (from cleaning rag) reflecting sunlight on both the inside and outside of the windshield so I'm not yet convinced weather they are actual flaws in the windshield or not. Defnitely not water spots, these are tiny - like specs of dirt (or lint as I mentioned).

However, makes me wonder now that someone else has seen it and with a similar production date. Could it be a bad run of Windshields?

In just the right light, I can still see a 12" square with the numeral one in the center of it on my 4 year old Passat. It has something to do with manufacturing I guess, and looks like it is just dirty or dusty, but can NOT be cleaned off. Perhaps it is in the lamination process somewhere.

Just wondering if you are wearing sunglasses when you notice these spots on the windshield. If you are wearing polorized sunglasses, you can see all sorts of strange spots on both the windshield and other car glass. This "spots" are not visible when not wearing polorized sunglasses. Just a thought...

Well, today I went to the dealer ship and have them take a look at it, the service manager took a look and told me to wait a minute, he comed back with a razor blade in his hand, sprayed a little of Stoner invisible glass ( I had it in the car, it was mine ) and then he tried removing some with all that gear. And ... to my surprise he was able to get rid of those dots, anyways he offered me to leave it for a day and they will take it to the have the winshield detailed with clay, he said that that should remove everything.
he was very nice, so I ll let you know how it goes after the detail.
