How to Remove Door Handle? - Click HERE for Original Thread
DonP
Our door got dented right on the body line just in front of the door handle. Dent Dude said he could do it. But I can save some bucks by removing the door panel and door handle myself.

I removed the door panel. But now I need to remove the outside door handle. I can't get to the rear bolt (near the lock). it looks like I need to remove the white plastic piece that retains the lock first.

I figured I check here to see if anyone has some tips or instructions before I do some unnecessary work or get myself in trouble.

I wish I could see it.

But, I recently replaced a Civic door handle for a friend. You have to remove 2 10mm bolts, there's usually access holes in the door to make it a straight shot with an extended socket.

Also, there was a PIA clip to remove once the bolts were out, it slid down and out, then the handle came off.

You also know how to disconnect the linkage: simply unclip by turning, then the rods for the lock and door actuator will pull out.

That's the best advice I can give without seeing it.

On the Civic: My buddy at work broke the handle, and the dealer quoted him ~$170 to replace it. I got one on eBay for ~$30, painted and clear-coated it with rattle can paint, and got a free dinner out of it, and he still saved over $100. It was silver, and actually matched well because of the curves of the handle.

Here is a schematic diagram from the parts book of the Handle or rather Hundle as they are known on HP.org

Thanks. I can get to the second (rear) 10mm bolt but there's aother piece in the way that won't let the socket slide on. If I dissamble it, I may not be able to get it back together because of it's awkward positioning. There is an access hole but the glass rail is in the way too.

If anyone has specific instructions, I still need help on this.
