Wife's New Civic (3 in family now) - Click HERE for Original Thread

Wife's 2000 Chevy Malibu was showing signs of transmission failure (unexpectedly going to 5000 rpm for no reason), A/C was failing, etc. Decided she had to have reliable transportation without breaking the bank. Looked at Accords, Civics, and Corollas, (Wife swears no more GM or Ford). The Accord was a little too big for her current needs. Corolla was a disappointment. Anti-lock brakes almost impossible to find. sun visor was cheap plastic with no cover on passenger side mirror (This was NOT a strip down model either).

Finally found a 2005 Civic EX Special Edition (Fancy radio and 6 disc changer and some alloy wheels mainly). Certified Honda. 20,230 miles on it. Only negative was some chips and dents in hood we didnt' spot in the rain. (Wife agreed, we will NEVER look at a car in the rain or if it is wet!) Bought from Leith Honda where I bought my Pilot.

Here are photos.

SHe has 20000 + and I have 24000+. Will be interesting to see which gets driven more.

Dealers Internet photo. Silver radio is part of the EX Special. (Frankly it looks like a thief target but you can't get anti-lock on an LX (they had a beautiful 04 LX in Galapagos Green ) so we went for the EX. Not many out there for sale.

Very nice looking vehicles you have there.

Consider paintless dent removal (relatively inexpensive) for the small dents and dings in the hood. My three autos, a 91 Nissan 240sx, 04 Pilot, and 04 Pontiac Vibe all look dealership new cause I visit the pdr folks whenever I get a ding that I can't live with :)

Nice car sporty.

I'm off of GM's & Fords as well. With a prior Ford, a prior Pontiac and a prior Chevy, all 3 suddenly started to show their age when they hit between 48,000 and 60,000 miles. It's like a switch goes off when they hit that area of mileage. And it's like one thing after another with them. :3:

My wife and I don't put a lot of mileage on our vehicles so we tend to keep them for a while. We bought our Acura in 2002, with 41,000 on the odometer; we just crested 62,000. But, as far as reliability, Honda products just last.

By the way, are the beagles in your avatar yours? Cute pups! Our beagle, Chase is 4 1/2 now. One of the best dogs I've ever had. (Sorry about getting off the subject.);)

Don't let a couple chips get you down - in fact get used to them. My 2003 Civic (85k miles) is getting a sandblasted appearance on the front end. The low hood combined with road debris being kicked up takes quite a toll on the paint.

I'd recommend putting on some of thpse invisible paint protection strips.

Yep, Lana and Gwenevere. Just over two years old. Have heard that despite what some say about beagles being untrainable, they are! you just have to find something they want to be trained in! :p

Believe me, it helps if there is food involved as a reward!! My wife and I lovingly refer to them as "pigs with brown heads". That being said, I wouldn't own another type of pooch. There is little middle ground with beagles, either you love them or you don't "get them". Being a hunting dog, they shouldn't make a good house pet; but they do if you baby them enough. Most beagles will give up the field for the couch any day!!

Cheers to all!:2:
