Kentucky / Indiana Pilot Meet - Click HERE for Original Thread
havasu
OK, new thread to plan next meet..

Being that Louisville seems to be the most central location, can any of you Louisville guys recommend a location?
havasu
Ideas for KY/IN Pilot meet location (and this post makes this thread more recent than the old one :) )
- food
- large parking lot to assemble Pilots
- Photo ops
redrok03
How about one of Louisville Parks?

Or maybe a mall parking lot. There are usually plenty of spaces away from the stores.

GARY
sandman
I do not live in Louisville, but it is more conveninent for us from Indiana. I will do some research and try to come up with some suggestions for a place. Maybe the KY people will know of a place sooner. I really hope I can get my bumper fixed before the meet.\
See my post in detailing about Automatic Car Washes.
ps how do you get the thread link to put in messages????
thanks,
Bob:rolleyes:
havasu
Hey Older Than Dirt, post your Louisville locations here in this
thread....
tibbitts
Okay Guys/Gals, let's make this happen. Havasu and I will be out of town the weekend of Nov. 2nd and 3rd. We are proposing Sunday 10/27, or Saturday, Sunday Nov. 9th and 10th. Any takers?
redrok03
I'm game. Just say where and when. Earlier might be better color if we take pictures with trees in the background.

The easiest way is to copy it from the URL/address field of the browser, and paste in into your post.

Yes we picked Louisville because it seems a central location for Kentucky/Indiana/Cincy too.
Older than dirt
Here (again) are some possible sites for getting together - click on the link for more info...

E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park

Louisville Zoo

Churchill Downs

Louisville City Parks

Louisville Waterfront Park

BlueGrass Bison Ranch

Please look at these sites for details - they all could provide suitable backgrounds for photos and all would ahave access to dining spots. The best place for kids activities might be the Bluegrass Bison Ranch in Shelbyville - our grandkids have been and enjoyed the place. You can also eat a "buffalo burger" there - just don't tell the kids where it came from! Let me know on this post what you think...

:21: :21: :21: :21: :21: :21: :21:
Older than dirt
Also, the early November date works for us...
sandman
I agree that Sunday would be a good day for a drive.
Some of us still work (I am in retail and work most Saturdays) or may have things to finish on Saturdays, so I vote for a Sunday outing-----Oct 27 or Nov 10
What is your vote?????????????????????
:21: :21:
xyzzy
Sundays are usually better for me because we usually have soccer/basketball games on Saturdays.

Chris
havasu
The Bluegrass Bison Ranch sounds the most interesting and ripe with photo ops! I'd love to get pictures of Pilots in front of Churchill Downs but we'd better wait for the scaffolding to come down you say, huh?

OK a Sunday sounds best for most folks.
- Sunday Oct 27 or
- Sunday Nov 10 ?

Trees are still mostly green now... wondering which date is likely to give is more fall color. More Pilot participation is higher priority though!

The Kentucky State Department of Fish and Game is advising hikers, hunters, fishermen and golfers to take extra precautions and keep alert for bears while in the Daniel Boone and Mammoth Cave areas.

They advise people to wear noise-producing devices such as little bells on their clothing to alert, but not startle the bear unexpectedly.

They also advise carrying pepper spray in case of an encounter with a bear.

It is also a good idea to watch for bear activity and know the difference between black bear and grizzly bear droppings.

* Black bear droppings are smaller and contain berries and possibly squirrel fur.

* Grizzly bear droppings have little bells in them and smell like pepper spray.

We'd prefer November 10th...
havasu
Well since Older Than Dirt has indicated that Nov 10 is better for them, and he has been primary tour planner for this excursion, what do you say we settle on Sunday November 10?

several of us seem to be on right now... i'm gonna go try the 'chat' ... want to join me?
havasu
Well the chat software is a bit wacky. Keeps popping up Applet windows. I don't see anyone else there. Is anyone trying?
whitepilot
sunday?? Its football season? but if thats what works Ill try and work it out....My wife is really gonna think IM obbsessed, Putting miles on the new pilot just to meet some fellow piloteers, I hope I can make it

time to go wash the pilot

nov 10 = colts road game whoot!
sandman
Havasu,
I have never been able to get anything or anyone in the chat either. Maybe the admin can get us some hints..............
;)
admin
The chat works. The problem is that not a lot of people use it. We could schedule a chat time, once or twice a week. Thoughts?

admin.
sandman
please post instructions on how to use post, what are all the tabs for etc, setup etc
redrok03
Sunday November 10th is good for us. Sounds like a great outing. Oh, we need directions to the Buffalo Farm if that's where we are meeting.

I've been trying since I found you guys. It IS a very strange place. No one there, string of a 'chat' pops up and then disappears. I gave up along time ago. :(
tibbitts
Okay, let's do it. The consensus seems to be for Sunday November the 10th.

How's this?
  • November 10th,
  • Buffalo Crossing at the Kentucky Bison Ranch in Louisville
  • 1:00 PM.

Meet for photo ops, lunch and whatever else piques our interest.
xyzzy
Works for me. I'm in unless something comes up that I can't get out of.

Hey, Whitepilot, I will be at the Nov 3rd game Colts vs. Titans. Hope to see 100 New Pilots in the parking lot. I just love that vehicle, I would have bought one, but an Accord Coupe suits me better for the stage I am in life right now.

Go Colts!!!!!!

Dave
dmack24
Hey white, off the subject, but your Granite Green Odyssey and the new Sage Brush Pearl are almost identical. I parked a new 2003 Sage Odyssey, next to a 2002 Certified used Granite Odyssey saturday, and they are pretty close in color. BTW my used vehicle only has 14,000 miles on it, it was the owner's wife's vehicle. Funny, she can drive any vehicle we sell there, MB S500, BMW 745IL, Porsche, Audi, VW.....and she drives a HONDA Odyssey, because she likes it the best. She could drive a Benz SUV, but still picks a Honda Odyssey.

Dave
whitepilot
wow pretty cool, really glad I didnt go with the sagebrush.....wifey and I woulda looked kinda silly with matching cars. I too will be at the nov 3 game (season ticket holder) maybe we can meet outside at halftime (ill be smoking)
sandman
if all goes as planned, I hope to attend too!!!
by the way, anyone bringing spouses or is this a stag event
???????????????????????????????????
:8:
Let me know what you all think??
Thanks,
Bob
havasu
If we don't bring spouses, one of us has to stay home, and that would *not* be pretty (it's either me or tibbitts) :-)

YES spouses are welcome. Kids too.
tibbitts
Well if you must choose, she's the better looking of the two. But, she will have the two kids with her, so either way, I'm a winner.
sandman
Havasu and Tibbitts:10: :10: :10:
It took me a while to figure out havasu and tibbitts have the same vin, must be sharing this pilot.:5:
dmack24
White, Colts are looking ugly tonight. Down 14-0. I will be on a bus trip from Evansville. The woman works for Vectren and it is a work outing, tent party, etc. The seats may be high up, but worth the free price as she makes the Jack. BTW, she drives a 1995 Accord that she bought before college and then Law School.

Wife and I did match colors. Her Accord and my Pilot look good in garage together. I don't think they look silly at all.

GARY

Hey Redrok, what year and model is the Accord? Colts just missed a Field Goal. It's getting bad Whitepilot.

2000 Accord SE Ruby Red Pearl - Not exactly the same, but almost. I was concerned before I selected the color, but it turned out OK now.

GARY
dmack24
Redrok, the SE is probably the best valued Accord for the money, they don't make them every year either. They skip years. There will probably not be a SE this year.

I have sold numerous SE Accords this last year.

It's a burgundy, and the Pilot is more red.

Dave
dmack24
Whitepilot, ugly, ugly game. I just turned it off. I am a Bears fan, the Colts are my 2nd favorite team, they were ugly tonight. What an embarassment.

Dave
whitepilot
yup ugly and then some more ugly
dmack24
Ugly, on my second fifth of Walker's and still can't make myself feel gawd!!!

LOL!!!! May skip the Nov. 3rd game at this rate & pace.

wroberts3x27
Could not make the last one......Gonna really try to make this one, if I can find it. No Nav you know.
dmack24
Hey Wroberts, you can buy a nav system at Circuit City to go from vehicle to vehicle.

Havasu & Tibbitts know my deal. The kids come, but the wife works weekends and won't be coming.

Chris

I saw on the other thread that Havasu said sat nov 9, I thought it was sunday the 10th?

My wife thinks Im crazy and is staying at home....

but it looks like Ill be able to make it barring something unexpected, so you all can see a sunroof on a pilot if you havent already

So I guess I have to inspect the Bear Dump to see if I should be scared and run or not right?!?!?!?

I will be unable to attend until I get my Honda for admittance to the party. My girlfriend's parents live north of Louisville and would work out great, my 1992 Geo Storm that I paid $150 for will not look good in a PACK OF PILOTS!!!!!!!!

I will be thinking about all you guys though. What a dream come true, a caravan of the Best SUV in America.

HONDA --------> The Power Of Dreams.

Dave

It should be getting ordered this friday.
dmack24
I have been to the Paint Protection posts, and am thinking about Zaino. Can someone please explain how that system works and tell me how soon after I take delivery of my new car that I can start using it.
xyzzy
Dmack,

Check the detailing threads over at the MDX site (www.acuramdx.org) and you'll find a fair number of great threads on Zaino. There are some here as well, but the ones on the MDX site have been going on for quite a while and have answers to many questions about the products.

Well I would like to throw my two cents in for a moment. I have been not paying attention to the planned meeting because I figured it would fall on a Saturday or one of the Sundays I work. But thanks to tidbits, It seems that this here meeting will be on a day off!!!!!! I have to check a map and most importantly, the boss (wife), but I hope to come as well. My crew would consist of a wife and two children.

Tires for sale,

The wife says if I'm going on a trip in her Pilot she is coming with it to make sure that I don't damage it. Put 2 on the list under my name. Sandman, if we can make the trip it would be good to have company. We will work it out a little closer to the trip when we both know for sure we can go. OTD, where is your vibration, please describe it and I will ask the mechanics at work tomorrow. I have seen them work 1/2 day to get a whistle taken care of an a 2003 Oddyssey, it took silicone behind weatherstrip to fix it. Check the lugs, and it will make noise on concrete roads.

Post lots of pictures all, I want to see those Pilots and show them to my customers, especially all the colors.

Since we have to find a name for this group, I thought we should have one eary to pronounce.
Try this one on for size:
:29: :29: :29: BLUEBUCKIN PILOTEERS

if you need help to follow, I will explain:
Kentucky=Bluegrass
Ohio=Buckeyes
Indiana=IN
or we can just use the site name of OKI Piloteers
See if you can come up with one too.

I have sidesteps on mine. You are more than welcome to have the grandkids give them a go on Sunday. My kids are 4 and 6 and the sidesteps work great for them. It's a pretty even stride up to the step and then into the Pilot. No awkwardness at all.
