(moved to the right place)
This is my first year in 5 that I am not going to Vegas for CES (Consumer Electronics Show) and I'm going through withdrawal.
If you are there and still checking HP.org, please take pics and tell us what's new and cool.
Thanks. :2: |

I've never been to CES but have always wanted to go. Although I am in IT my job really has nothing to do with consumer electronics (d'oh!).
I used to go to Comdex but that became a real snore after a while.
Anyway for good CES coverage check out engadget.com ( http://ces.engadget.com ) |

Thanks. I actually visit that site often as well as cnet and I receive pretty much every email, newsletter, update, etc. from CEA.
Just feel like I am missing something by not being there. Like I said, withdrawal.:D
Thanks again. |

You had to mention it and start the CES DTs again. :D
My brother and I were just discussing taking the kids and making a geek-fest vacation trip of it next year. |

well, since i went from a 27 inch tube with rabbitt ears and dial up internet service with a 5 year old pc in DECEMBER TO a 40 inch 1080p LCD with High Def and a wireless laptop with cable high speed interenet access, i feel like i am living CES in my very own house right now.
It only took me 37 years ! lol
Its nice to be up to date for a change. |

this tv's taller than she is!
I wonder how many people can actually fit this in their room. I can fit it, but then I'll have to sit in the next room to watch it?? |

The only iPods I haven't owned are the 2nd generation iPod, with the 4 buttons lined up above the scroll wheel, and the 2nd gen iPod shuffle.
I just got a 2nd gen nano and the Nike+ kit Saturday. :p Depending on how they roll out the phone (and if there's an IMAP mail client available for it), I may just give up my Treo 700p.:4: |

I think I'll pony up for one. :p I need a new set of ringtones; there are so many people with Treos where I work, I'm constantly looking to see if that's my phone ringing. |

Same here. I've had the Blackjack for about 2 months but would rather have a Mac-compatible "smart" phone. Now I know why I've been putting off replacing my 1st gen iPod (probably the only 1st gen gadget I own). |

I love the looks of the Blackjack, but can't phathom the lower resolution screen, and won't do Windows! Thank goodness I'll be able to sell the Treo for more than the Sprint termination fee. :p |

| couple more days before the iphone. I'm probably waiting until the next gen as I personally don't see myself spending $600 on the phone now. but it seems like some people can't wait, as people are already waiting at the apple stores (some since monday)! |

The company I work at gets 40% off phones at Cingular/ATT... I'm half tempted to call them and ask about the iPhone... But I'm 99% sure there is no way in h*ll they'll give it to me at any discount. :p |

we get 25% off any apple products, but I think we're in the same boat, where we most likely won't get any discounts on the iphone now! :D
I do like the fact that anyone can buy the iphone and activate it at home instead of staying at the store to sign the contract. I once was at a best buy store for over an hour just getting the contract completed. it didn't help that the person helping me didn't quite know what to do. |

I've spoke to everyone I can in my company and business customer care at AT&T/Cingular.
The answer is:
"No discount on this product -- at least not initially"
Also, you will not be able to order it through business customer care as they will not have it available.
Nobody has clarified whether or not the $25 off for ordering on line is applicable though (through their premier site).
I have to admit that I may be one of those idiots that gets one right away. I have one on hold from a "buddy" who has a store. If I end up getting one, I will post some initial reviews and pics about it. |

| I heard the IPhone is incompatible with Microsoft Exchange. That would keep me from getting one. |

Mary Jo Foley (ZDNet) is reporting that Apple will announce this week that they have licensed the Exchange ActivStync protocol in order to enable remote synchronization & push email. I hate push email BTW, and don't use it but my VGA PocketPC syncs email very well. Personaly, I'd rather keep my VGA screen than switch to an iPhone but it looks like VGA's dying, doesn't it? |

All those who currently get a discount on your monthly bill through your company will no longer get that discount as the plans are all iPhone-specific.
So in other words, You will have to pay your taxes since most discount barely cover that. |
